Thank you Chickapoo. (Soy bean super bean super soy milk) Evil is all I ask for. Evil or morbid. Well, come to think of it, perhaps carnal would help too. A carnal, morbid map bereft of foliage. Mooohahah

    QUESTION FOR THE POOL

Would there be anyone who would like to provide a scenario for me and the guy named after a town that sits on the River Thames? A sufficiently evil one would do nicely thank you. QB's have become tiresome for me.

  3. Pardon me as I verbally drop trau once again:

My games as of 11/13/00 (No particular order)

Meeks - He is cheating. I can find no logical reason for me losing so much so fast. It simply cannot be that I am tactically inept. This just cannot be I tell myself.

Croda - Fun to be had. The fog hasn't slowed our slugfest. He's been having a funky good time with my infantry. All in all, its been an enjoyable fight.

JDMorse - We started again after the severe beating he put through in our fight. I had the excuse of being a newbie in that one. If and when I lose this one, it will just be because of his superior intellect and whatever I make up later on.

Elvis - He has not left the building. Elvis has shown me new things to do with my troops and encourages me after I do stupid things. The exchange goes like this. "Hiram, remember when you were walking your infantry in the open and I gunned them down? Well, stop doing that"

Berli - I'm waiting for his reaction after he watches the latest movie. Oh funny. happy happy joy joy (sorry Ren)

Moriarty - He has got to be toying with me. He let be blow up all of his armor and is hiding in a building right now with some infantry. I just know that he is hiding a Sherman Jumbo somewhere back there. Perhaps I should scout with my snipers (What say you, PeterNZer??) I'm German, so I don't have any Jeeps. hehe

OGSF - Watching paint dry is somewhat more exciting than the slow and sloppy battle we've had. Its a war of attrition. I attrit and he hides. Shortly after the new year, I'm sure we'll be half way through our Knighthood Challenge. There was one exciting battle where he had a flamethrowing guy and I had fodder to be cooked.

I'm ready to battle any other Knight or Squire if you want an apathetic opponent.

4 years - HHD 324th FSB, 24th ID (Mech), Ft Benning, Georgia

  5. I agree with Shatter. I wish there would be an instance when you see a plane crash or some sort of noise to show your 88 AA took out an allied plane.

In one instance, I had three bomber runs in two turns and I had all sorts of flak guns. I guess they were desparate but my guns were shooting like crazy too.

Sir Seachai, I am saddened to see that you are indeed bereft of testosterone. I had thought that living in the land of the "Vikes" would have toughened you up by now, But it would appear that your effeminate nature is truly indominateable and pervasive. When it started snowing in August, did you put on your coat of the fuschia hue and your Pokemon mittens to play in the snow? I could try to explain passion for football to you, but I'm sure it would be met with much eye rolling and deep sighing on your knightly part.

Please let me know when you want to share in a PBEM. Now that would be good entertainment.

  7. To all pool members:

Please know that the Philadelphia Eagles have won today. How does this affect you? Well, when you wake up tommorow knowing that good has triumphed over evil, you will understand the impact of an Eagles win. Remember when you were suckling at your mother's teat and she whispered in your ear about how there is something right and good in this world? That something is the Philadelphia Eagles. Go ahead and celebrate, for this is truly a momentous occasion. Share this news with your family members. Be sure to call your distant relatives and tell them about how the noble and good Eagles beat the Steelers. Granted, I have no hatred vs the Steelers. They were simply a team that the Eagles were destined to win against. What is their record? Well, they are now 7-4!! Who would have thought?

Following the Jungian way of thinking, you can accept that the dreams you've been having about the struggle of right against wrong is embodied in the average Eagles game. Watch an Eagles game and all of those bad dreams will go away.

I would like to give a shout out to my "homies" in 700 level at the Vet. You are the ones who make it happen.

    Peace out.

  8. Seriously...this what I would want to see in a new CM website:

    1. Scenarios

    2. Mods

    3. Tactics and Tips

All of my CM needs are currently met by Mad Matt and TGN.

I understand that you want to break away from the norm that is the CM Webring at the moment. You might want to go with a more historical bent or find a niche and stick with it. Just my two cents.

    David

Once again, I agree with Mr. Aitken and the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory. I have an older machine and am entirely too lazy to update my drivers, so the new DirectX can wait a while.

The first and the last equally apply to the BEF in the Great War. The middle one I am not qualified to judge. I think Hiram's question is a bit unclear though. Hiram, are you asking about the impact of the force as a whole, or about the quality of the soldiers when you talk about efficiency?

I was pretty much fishing for links and info. As for my question, here is my line of thinking: The BEF was innovative inasmuch as they would dig positions and wait for the enemy. This was the first time that the Germans had faced a force that did that. This was obviously before the forces started trench warfare. Their marksmanship scared the crap out of their enemy at the time. Compared to the French and Russian Forces at the time, it seems (IMHO) that the BEF were some "badass mofos". I'm not a historian at all. I was just curious to see if the BEF had that big of an impact overall during WWII as they did during WWI.

  12. Thank you, Gentlemen.

Andreas, I'm reading "The First World War" by John Keegan. I was especially taken by the battle of the BEF vs Gen Buhler of the Germans and how the marksmen of the BEF frightened the Germans (beginning of the war IIRC)

  13. I've been reading a book on WWI and learned about the British Expeditionary Force. I was wondering if they were as deadly in WWII as they were in the first. If any of you "Grogs" would have some website likes to share with me regarding them, I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance.
