  1. Schweet! I had pulled my Voodoo5 out and was going to sell the damned thing because I could no longer play CM!!! Now I will give it another chance and put it back in my machine and do your "fix" Duke. Danke, ------------------ One shot...One Kill
  2. How about targeting with your smoke but using the "pause" command to that they dont actually begin to fire say 30 to 45 seconds into the turn so that when the next turn comes around you can "cancel target"? (...hmmmm, IM going to try that out) ------------------ One shot...One Kill

  4. What Institute are you talking about? VMI?
  5. Hi Pat, one thing to remember about using "road through woods" or the "road through tall pines" terrain is exactly what Fionn was talking about, all vehicular traffic will not be able to get off the road at all, or enter it for that matter. These streches are death traps which in itself makes a good map but if you overuse it or make it too long, you are really putting the attacker at a disadvantage, maybe even to the point where the map becomes unbalanced. (I know, had a few myself with my first map!) By the way, don't you think a mixture of the 2.5 and 5 meter elevation interval setting would be a nice option? Or maybe have "half" elevation points such as: instead of 10 to 11 elevation (which as you know, if you are using the 5 meter interval this often makes an impassible cliff), have a 10 to 10.5 to 11 interval so that you can make a nice slope without having the damn hill over a kilometer across!...if you know what I mean? What do you think? Are there any railroad bridges? Anyhoo, Have fun making your map(s).
  6. Hello, one tactic tankers have used for years is commonly known as "lowsky" and "tophat" in the US Army. It is simply going from full deflaide to a hull-down position. Being an ex-tanker myself (3rd Armor Div, M1A1/1st AR M1E1) I use this tactic quite a bit in CM ESPECIALLY against German heavy armor. The way to do it is: If you have your tank(s) behind a hill or whatnot, during your orders phase, order him to Hunt forward (where you know he will be able to engage, but not be totally "out in the open", then reverse back down, and Hunt again, etc... usually, depending on the terrain and the vehicle, a sherman can do this 2 to 3 times, and make sure to end up in a reverse command so that he is lowsky at the end of the turn. You can even coordinate it so that one tank goes first then when he is reversing the next one is going into tophat, you will be surprised how much longer your tanks survive a shootout with the Germans. Yes, sometimes you will miss out on an opportunity because your tank will lowsky when he has a shot, but better to live a while longer and wait for another opportunity to present itself. Note that this same tactic works if you are "peeking" around a wooded area, but not near as well. Anyway, thats all the "tricks" Ill give you today...incase I ever have to destroy you in PBEM. j/k Later, [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 08-03-2000).]
