1. Ok, 10 of the 12 PBEM's are out the door. Kollos Joeski....you guys need to work out who is who and get back to me ASAP. markk chairman7w....you guys need to work out who is who and get back to me ASAP. To the rest of you... I know I am only the Ref, but if you could keep me posted on the highlights of your battles...your thoughts, impressions, etc...it would LOVE to hear them! (I did put some work in after all ) j/k Thanks guys! Out. ------------------ One shot...One Kill
2. Ok guys, I got everyones purchases now and I am setting up the final PBEM's. Expect them within an hour or two. That is all. ------------------ One shot...One Kill
3.
quote:
A small village with two roads. One leading north/south the other east/west.As befitting the season there is a lovely snow storm swirlling about and mud on the ground.Bigmac holds the high ground and his placement area extends to the edge of the village.Kain must advance across open ground and uphill in order to enter the village or achieve flanking positions. What a nightmare!!

LOL... I told you...some of you have some NASTY maps! Good Luck all...you'll need it! ------------------ One shot...One Kill
4. Seems that if the person setting up the tournament had the choice of disabling HotSeat mode AND was able to, as you say, pre-enter the passwords, the file would be secure. OR Be able to have a "Freestyle" regular PBEM match where you do not have the limitations that occur now with unit purchases. I don't know which would be easier to do...and I am sure there are other ways. What say you BTS? Can this style of PBEMing be secure? Where one person is the Referee, purchases each sides units according to their wishes, then saves the file in Tournament mode? Is there a way to keep the "users" from peeking at the other sides units by using HotSeat or simply opening a copy of the PBEM file he/she sent to the opponent, since no password has yet been entered? ------------------ One shot...One Kill
5. Good Morning Asskickers... It looks like all the rest of you that I needed purchases from have responded. Excellent. I am off to work now (and play games for 8 hrs ), but rest assured that when I get home, you will have a PBEM tonight. Out. ------------------ One shot...One Kill
6. Well, almost all of you have replied to this issue either here on the forum or by email, and I am pleased to see that all of you, for the exception of Def "I want to start over and get some power converters....(whine)Bungis" , choose to continue with the Honor system. Honor. Excellent. As for the TCP/IP...we can have this first round knocked out by that time and continue to the Second Round with TCP/IP...so by popular Vote...WE CONTINUE! (This means you Sergeant Bungis) Maybe BTS could shed some light on us and help us figure out a way that this type of battle setup could work without being compromised?! I think all we would need is a choice of whether or not to have Hot Seat functioning when I save the game in Tournament mode? And To allow ME to place the passwords before hand so absolutely no peeking is allowed? Or maybe "Freestyle" PBEM's where no limitations occur, such as the limitation of 400 points of Arty, etc... in a Combined Arms game for example? Madmatt...what do you think? Is this feasible or is there a known solution? ------------------ One shot...One Kill [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-20-2000).]
7. Def/Speedy what is the thread? TCP/IP? ------------------ One shot...One Kill
8.
quote:
Duke; Boy, a tanker could ruin a wet dream.

LOLOL, I was waiting for you to chime in! lol Ok, DAT it is! Keep the votes coming peeps. ------------------ One shot...One Kill
9. Gents, the Honorable Jeff Abbot brought some very disheartening news to my attention... I SCREWED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The PBEM's I sent out already can easily be compromised by your more "unsavory" PBEM'rs... You can start the game in Hot Seat and see the other players units. Also, you can leave the other sides password blank and see his units! It sux to be me right now!!! I have a solution and will need your help in deciding what to do for this First Round. OK...what will have to happen is that everyone sets up their units as Reenforcements that arrive on turn 2 with 100% chance of arrival. In this way, even if some one loads up the file in Hotseat all he will see is the Reenforcement marker...Better than nothing I guess! You can even use all the Reenforcement slots avalible (all arriving on turn 2) to split units up to where you want them. But I guess you can still cheat by waiting 2 turns eh? I apologize for this, but hey, its a learning experience. And actually, this will make the battles, TRUE meeting engagements!!! So here is the thing...do we continue with the first round as is? Saying, either: Everyone uses the Honor System and does not cheat? OR Everyone gets to look at the oppositions units, we will call it " A very good Intelligence report!" OR Finally, we start over with the solution mentioned above? Lets do a vote guys...Please respond ASAP!! Either here or by email. ------------------ One shot...One Kill [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-20-2000).]

15. ATTENTION: 1 person had to drop out for personal reasons and I still need purchases from a few people, but they have until tommorow to send them in. Jack Hughes was my first alternate and will be filling in for Sniperscope. Please see new First Round Bracket below for details. 6 PBEM's have made it out the door! Good Luck! First Round Bracket: Terrible 24 TBlaster vs.-----------------Winner U8led 1) Kunzler vs.-----------------Winner Juardis ============================== Def Bungis vs.-----------------Winner Splinty 2) Kollos vs.-----------------Winner Teutonic ============================== GuzzleBock vs.-----------------Winner SuperSlug 3) Stoffel vs.-----------------Winner Capt. 16. Ok Peeps, I emailed the folks that need to send me purchases. I will give them till Monday to respond and then, in fairness to the rest of you, I will begin to use Alternates to fill the holes. BTW: 3 battles are fully formed and ready to go. I am not sure if I should wait or go ahead and send them...what do you guys think? ------------------ One shot...One Kill
17. ATTENTION: I need unit purchases from the following people: TBlaster Juardis Kollos Teutonic Jeff Heidman Sniperscope Joeski markk chairman7w Speedy and Snoop...you guys need to decide who is Axis...currently BOTH of you are Allied. Note to any alternates out there...I need you! Please email me ASAP. NOTICE: I NEED ALTERNATES. SIGN-UPS NOW OPEN! For the rest of you, thanx...I will be setting everything up now and a few battles will commense shortly. ------------------ One shot...One Kill
18. Guys, there seems to be some confusion on how to proceed. Ok, first: Place the file in your Saved Games folder. Then click on "Create Scenario" Then, open it and click on "Units" Purchase your Units to equal EXACTLY 2000 points or below. NO 2001, 2002, etc. I will not accept the file if you go over the limit. Once you have purchased your units, send the file to me and I will complete the process. Then await the PBEM. That is all. ------------------ One shot...One Kill [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-18-2000).] [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-19-2000).]
19. One more thing: Just to clarify what will happen. Once you pick your 2000 pnts, you will send the file back to me. Once I have BOTH sides files', I will transfer the unit selections over to the Master File which I will then save in Tournament mode. Then I will send it to the appropriate player for the Setup Turn. And Viola! Carnage ensues. P.S. Some of you have some NASTY maps! Whew! I wouldn't want to fight there! ------------------ One shot...One Kill
20. NOTICE TO ALL ASSKICKERS If you did not recieve a battle last night then please contact me right away. I was up late setting everything up so I am sure I screwed something up! ALSO: The Vote we had earlier is in effect: ALLIES GET 2000 POINTS, SAME FOR THE AXIS PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN YOU EMAILS WITH YOUR NICKNAME SO I CAN KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! Good Hunting! ------------------ One shot...One Kill
21. One last thing. Everyone get in touch with your opponent and deside on who is taking the Axis or Allies. If you need a Rock, Paper, Scissors PBEM match then let me know. Once you have chosen a side, EMAIL me the results at: iron_duke@mindspring.com ------------------ One shot...One Kill
22. NOTICE: THE ENTRIES ARE CLOSED Beckman...I am sorry but I don't think you will be able to participate. The reason being is as it stands now...there are 24 players at the moment which makes 12 First round PBEM's. This leads to 12 players in 6 PBEM's for the Second Round. Here is where it gets tricky. For the semi-finals, there will be 6 players in 3 PBEM's which leaves 3 players for the Finals, which in turn leads to a Round Robin for the Championship of 2 players in 1 PBEM. If you work out the brackets...there will have to be 8 (7 less yourself) new players join up in order to get another full bracket and no Round Robin. So unless 7 more show up by tomorrow morning...Would you be interested in being an alternate? I am sure someone will drop out or not respond and have to be dropped? Let me know. First Round Bracket: Terrible 24 TBlaster vs.-----------------Winner U8led 1) Kunzler vs.-----------------Winner Juardis ============================== Def Bungis vs.-----------------Winner Splinty 2) Kollos vs.-----------------Winner Teutonic ============================== Guzzle Rock vs.-----------------Winner SuperSlug 3) Stoffel vs.-----------------Winner Capt. Ayers ============================= Jeff Heidman vs.-----------------Winner rwwald 4) Sniperscope vs.-----------------Winner Joeski ============================== Texastoast vs.-----------------Winner Clement 5) Bigmac vs.-----------------Winner Kain ============================= Speedy vs.-----------------Winner Snoop 6) markk vs.-----------------Winner Chairman7w ============================== Thats the First Round Gents! Expect maps in your email boxes by the morning. You will have until Sunday to look over the map and purchase your units, although you do not have to wait until Sunday to do so. The earlier the better. ------------------ One shot...One Kill [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-18-2000).] [This message has been edited by Iron Duke (edited 11-18-2000).]
23. We are up to 26 so far. I think I will leave the post open until tommorow morning, as I have asked Fionn Kelly to join us but since he lives in Ireland, he hasn't had a chance to respond. I still need email evaluations from the following: markk speedy Def Bungis....get the lead out Sergeant! chairman7w kgreatape von Lucke I also need email addresses from the following: kgreatape von Lucke Everyone else, great job...thanks a million. I am preparing the seeds tonight, but rest assured that if you get seeded "low", that doesn't mean anything. This is the first time around so real seeds wont be known until the next match. There is a small trophy store about 6 blocks from here and I will check on the trophy tomorrow, I think I will have it engraved "Combat Mission" "Asskicker of the Month" December, 2000 I was thinking if you were interested, we could get a pool going of say 1 or 2 bucks each and get a real nice trophy for the second time...thus everyone will have an incentive to kick arse! Let me know what you guys think about that. Someone had a question: Can brits be used? Absolutely. If you are the Allies, you can pick any Allied force you want. Though no mix and matching please. (i.e. American Infantry with British Armor...although I have done this myself! ) ------------------ One shot...One Kill
24. Small Update: 21 "Asskickers" have signed on so far! Keep them coming. This looks like it will be great fun! ------------------ One shot...One Kill
25. Please check the original Ass Kicker of the Month post for updates. Maddmatt. I don't mean to take up HD space here so if you want to lock this one cool. Just want people to get in the habit of checking the original post. Thank you, Hector
