5. I believe there are a lot of people on this site making their own versions of Arnhem. There should be some postings for them pretty soon.
 6. What the hell was the name of that movie where German soldiers pretend to be Polish paratroops in Southern England to try and kill Churchill? That was kinda cool. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Airborne: I liked "When Trumpets Fade".. I also usually include 1 or 2 of the halftracks w/ 20mm and 75mm. 11. "A Bridge Too Far" would be if it weren't for that damn Leopard MBT crossing the bridge. "The Dam Busters." And not one of my favorites, but did anyone else enjoy "When Trumpets Fade" on HBO last year? Not bad for TV. PS, HBO is doing " Band of Brothers", by Stephen Ambrose next summer. Stephen Speilberg is directing, I believe. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?

Thanks for the input. = ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 15. I don't want to jump too far ahead here w/ CM2, 3 and 4 still in the planning stages. But, CM's original design, lush landscapes and smooth play seems like it would lend itself well to other areas of history. Perhaps this will come from BTS or someone else ripping off the design. I have already seen someone suggest the engine be used to represent an American Civil War game. I think it would work very well as Vietnam era game myself. I have always been a big Franco-Prussian War fan as well. With some tweaking, this also might make a fabulous medievil game (Shogun-ish?). Anyway, I wondered what other eras CM gamers would like to see done w/ this engine. No doubt a large number of people will beg for it to remain true to its origins. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?

 17. How does the computer decide when to fire or what targets to fire tungston/ panzegranate-40 rounds at? Do they fire them first before AP rounds? Also wondering if in CM2 we will see the German 37mm ATG in use, as I believe this was the primary gun that the pzrg-40 was designed for. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. 18. It seems that given the fact that I read that only 100 Pumas were produced, and most were insrevice on the eastern front that there sure are alot of those puppies prowling around in CM scenarios. Don't get me wrong, I love hunting allied tanks w/ 'em in bocage. I know it has been discussed previously, but hopefully CM2 will have a unit purchase point system based on historic availability of units. Then again, who cares. Go nuts, make a Puma Battalion! (or a Maus battalion for that matter.) ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 19. My source only mentions Tiger IIs in thr Osterbeek area, not in the town. I hope that your german reinforcements include self-propelled guns, pioneers, and flak guns as these were all used in the city against the paras. PS. I would love to play it when its finished! 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Herr Oberst: Imagine the battle... Pick your side. You get one spotter and one sniper. Last man standing wins... 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Juardis: I like the line of trees idea myself. Wild Bill, I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious as to the inner workings of a master scenario designer. I understand tradeoffs sometimes have to be made. To make up for the lack of tanks and the inability to provide cover fire, I think you... * * * * more * * * spoilers * * * * added reinforcements on the German side of the river. Since I'm not aware of a second wave of assault boats, I can only assume that they show up as if there were enough smoke/cover fire for more troops to make it across alive. At least that's the rationale I've come up with. Without those reinforcements, I'm not really sure I could've taken that side of the river since my initial assault got mauled (I have 4 squads left, at reduced strength of course). And I still haven't taken it after 12 turns, but it is inevitable now unless they get more reinforcements. So, IMO, you have to do one of 2 things. Leave the scenario alone (maybe add a tree line and fix the Sherman in the heavy building), or add more tanks for the allies but forgo the reinforcements on the German side. That would make keeping your initial assault companies alive a top priority. What do you think?

I'd say about 6 more shermans and an artillery observer. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Mace: Any excuse to wax lyrical about the Eastern Front, and CM2, is always justified IMHO! Add: Extensive field works Ski troops and motorised sleds Soviet Marines & Paratroops NKVD (to deal with those retreating Ruskies) Different building sets (including large factories, buildings with 3+ levels) etc Mace

Soviet Marines! Forgot about those puppies! Good call. Both sides apparently constucted extensive field works, incorporating buildings, trenches and earthen bunkers. Sure hope that those will be reflected in the game and included in the map editor. BTW, have you read "War of the Rats"? Good semi-nonfictional account of snipers in Stalingrad. A little over dramatic, but good combat. They are making a movie of it right now w/ Jude Law (Talented Mr. Riply) as the soviet sniper Zaitsev and Ed Harris as the german sniper school instructor. Can't wait! ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by streamkeeper: Stepen E. Ambrose "Citizen Solider" covers the same portion of the war as CM. Great complimentary book for the game.

I am re-reading it right now because I bought CM last week. I am up to the Siegfried Line portion and its material makes for some great scenarios. ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 24. I'm sure I'll get fragged for not checking the "search" files well enough, but I have a small wishlist for the Stalingrad battle in CM2. (I would buy the game for this battle alone!) Here they are: Cellars/ basements, sewars, two-man sniper teams (and flame-thrower teams for that matter), historic persons (ie. Zaitsev, Noble Sniper), Stukas (w/ sirens ofcourse), molotov cocktails, and the six-fingered man who killed my father. That should just about do it. Please let me know what I left out! ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
 25. I would like to play th St.Lo Op. if possible. Please send it my way if you get a chance. Kenshin@earthlink.net ------------------ I'm sorry, we haven't the facilities to take all of you prisoner. Was there anything else?
