  1. I bought the game from the UK a couple weeks ago. I sold it earlier this week for a loss. I quickly got bored of the game, as the missions became repetitive.
  2. One of my favorites has always been the M36 Jackson. Here's a screenshot of one of my better engagements with the Jackson.
  3. This is my second best kill total by a allied tank. (previously posted)
  4. Hehe. How about a single Abrams Tank back at the Battle of Bighorn - Custers last stand. Tank=3000 Indians=0
  5. Although not specifically CM related, I was thinking while watching the movie Saving Private Ryan. If the Americans could go back in time to June 1944 with today's military technology, is it possible they could of made that same landing on Omaha beach with little or no casualties, as opposed to what really happened. Remember, I'm talking about this one battle alone, not the whole war. Personally speaking, I think they would of used satellites to pinpoint enemy strongholds (bunkers, barracks, etc) then sent in wave after wave of cruise missles, followed by a air attacks with LGB's (laser guided bombs). After a few days I think they would of done a massive amphibious assault with Harriers and Helicopters supporting the landing. Just a interesting "what if"...
  6. Zulu1 - it does the same thing for me. I'm also using IE 5.5
  7. This has been discussed to death before. Time to lock this thread up.
  8. Mine has one problem with CM, the mouse drags a portion of the prior screen with it to new screen while in the main interface Yup. The Voodoo5 5500 is famous for doing that. Only in some cases can it be resolved by switching the mouse pointer to Windows Standard. If that doesn't work you need to change the Voodoo5 5500 advanced settings to 'single chip' to eliminate it. that sucks though.
  9. I understand what von Lucke is saying here. Sometimes you just have to shake your head as you watch the enemy in panic, running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
  10. A little too much work for a graphic update if you ask me.
  11. Agreed. a more specific instructions would be helpful as far as the renaming goes.
  12. Pay special attention to FOF (fields of fire) and your occupying terrain or "silhouette" to the enemy. This makes all the difference in staying alive on the battlefield. All the heavy weapons, armor, arty, MG's etc, are completely useless unless you can effectively bear them down with full LOS on the enemy while presenting the smallest silhouette possible. Basically, it's practice practice practice... [This message has been edited by Ricky (edited 07-30-2000).]
  13. Sorry about the size. I'm not the best at this photo editing stuff. It's now been resized slightly. Hopefully it's not as huge. Thanks for the tip.
  14. So as not to spoil it for anyone, I'm not going to mention the Scenario name. However, I will tell you that this single squad of 12 men (2 whom were later killed) faced the brunt of a enemy counterattack stopping them dead in their tracks, thus forcing a German surrender only half way into the scenario. I really wish I could give this squad a medal. They really deserved it! Take a look: This screenshot was taken just after the enemy forced me out of my foxhole. I didn't run. I continued to fight despite being very short on ammo, and limited cover. I was moving from crater to crater confusing the enemy into thinking the defending force was much larger than it was. It paid off - they surrendered their entire force! Hehe. [This message has been edited by Ricky (edited 07-30-2000).]
  15. I tried both the GeForce2 and the Voodoo5 5500. I actually preferred the GeForce2. The GeForce2 had much crisper, richer colors - especially in CM. The Voodoo5 5500 under 2x or 4x FSAA had colors that appeared dull or washed out. Not to mention that when I ran the Voodoo5 5500 with the latest drivers, there were graphical problems with the game. There would be patches of missing graphics where my mouse cursor was (this problem has been reported many times in the support forum). I followed all suggestions and couldnt get this annoying problem resolved. The GeForce2 had absolutely NO problems whatsoever. Neither card ran 4xFSAA extremely well without a huge framerate loss, but I preferred the GeForce2 over the Voodoo5 5500 for sure.
  16. You could of put the words "SPOILER" in the subject heading to warn us that reading your descriptive message before Dinner would spoil our appetite.
  17. When scouting make use of the terrain to mask your presence. Also, don't "race" forward into unknown territory.
  18. It's a maneuver in which you simutaniously attack the enemy from two flanks and the front. When you close the "pincers" on the enemy, you catch them in a devastating crossfire of death. It's namesake is derived from the "pincers" of a shellfish.
  19. Hehe. Just finished a scenario in which I executed a textbook Pincer Maneuver, absolutely decimating the enemy force. 7 tanks with supporting artillery knocked out a whopping 11 enemy tanks and 7 light armored vehicles including 2 dozen infantry, while sustaining only 3 friendly armor losses. One of my best victories so far. Timing a Pincer Maneuver perfectly is not always a easy task, especially when coordinating supporting artillery. But when it comes together perfectly it's a joy to behold.
  20. Imagine a Combat mission based on the Eastern Front, possibly even a island hopping campaign against the Japanese. How about Combat Mission Vietnam or Korea. The list is endless.
