  1. OK, message sent to Capt Mike. If I do not hear from him in a couple of days I will have to replace him.
  2. Behold! 1:100,000 scale map of Stalingrad. It's a biggie, so give it time to load up. Mamee Kurgan is located in the lower left corner - 64 / 00 grid square. Here is an easy to use Cryllic translator
  3. I'll address this when I get home tonight
  4. Dave, You are correct, anyone who played in the regular tourney is eligible to play in the finals, but only the finals winners will get to play for the wine. However, we will still add everyone's score to the total before we run it through the Nabla system.
  5. Welcome aboard. Start off with small scenarios, especially the tutorial. Learn the basics, then progress from there. Feel free to ask any questions. The manual will help a little, but the vast majority of information will come from practice and from this board.
  6. John, I haven't received a result for your game against Lindan. Can you send it in? Thanks, Sergio
  7. I have a CMAK recreation of Wild Bill's 'We can't wait' which depicts the battle for Assenois just prior to Patton's relief of Bastogne. That one is destined to be released as part of the ROW I battle pack. There is also another Wild Bill recreation, 'Wiltz' availible at B & T.
  8. I tried to e-mail you via the address listed at Der Kessel, but it bounced back. Do you have plans on converting your 'Cintheaux-Totalize' scenario to CMAK? This scenario is a classic, and I would love to see how it plays with the new commands. I also have a question regarding the allied setup, but to preserve FOW I would prefer to ask via e-mail. Please contact me at sc112265@bellsouth.net While I'm at it, do Andreas and Berli have similar plans on converting their stuff to CMAK? 49th Recce, Into the East, Berli's 10 scenario southern France pack?

Must remember not to do this until the coffee kicks in. Anyway, this total is correct. Still have a ways to go, and the number of results coming in has slowed down a bit. Hopefully most of you are in the final stretch. As always, let me know if you are having problems. [ April 26, 2004, 01:55 PM: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
  10. Holy Shiite! You mean you are still on turn 1 of Vevi? If so, you two need to get cranking, as you have only 51 days to finish 45 turns. Remember, it takes 3 e-mail exchanges to complete one turn.
  11. You apparently ordered a prep barrage, which is done on the first turn. These barrages do not have any delay, and are always accurate regardless of whether the FO has LOS to the target. However, you cannot cancel them once they begin firing. Your only option now is to delay your infantry assault until the spotter shoots off all his ammo.
  12. No need, he declined to participate due to real life.
  13. John Osbourne, My e-mail to you just bounced back due to your spamblocker. You need to fix this asap before you can join the tourney. I can give you 24 hours to sort it out, but after that we'll have to go to the next guy in line. E-mail me when you get it fixed.
  14. You're setting yourself up for another disappointment. The 88s will ignore your covered arc / hide command if they feel they are threatened. Add to that the long setup time, and borg spotting of the tanks, and you will end up with the same results as before. My suggestion: deploy behind each ridge in a reverse slope defense with guns trained out to cover the flanks. Place a few HQs atop each ridge to keep an eye on the approaching tanks. The terrain will mask the guns from the majority of tanks, allowing them to concentrate on 1-2 tanks at a a time as each comes into LOS.
  15. Yes, destroy was one of the categories in CMBO. It has been replaced by static, although the goal is now VL orientated rather than kill / loss ratios. IIRC, the original Desorby Op was set at advance, but the game would end after the first battle due to the Germans flanking the town and reaching the map edge. Desorby-v2 was then set to destroy, forcing both sides to fight for the town. Good luck on the Op. It is one of Wild Bill's best.

I will again reiterate the importance of knowing where you are in terms of games being completed, and your current turn rate. If by this time you have more than 20 turns to go in any one game, and are exchanging one file a day or less, then you will not finish in time unless you make arrangements somehow to increase that rate.
  17. Wasn't that after being submerged in mud for 3 months or is that an old wives tale? Regards Jim R. </font>
  18. The Churchill croc can also be be considered a funny. You can take both the Croc and the AVRE for a spin in... [shameless plug]To the last man[/shameless plug] The original CMBO version still rates as my best pbem experience ever.
  19. Try this: make a copy of the scenario in question (and I know which one you are referring to). Now go in and edit the copy so that the 88s are all on the map at setup, dug in and in command. Now toss out a couple of dozen TRPs, and make sure each gun has LOS to at least 3. Now run the scenario and compare your miss/hit ratio with the previous game. If you get the same results as before then you got a legitimate beef. Otherwise you are arguing Apples (accuracy of dug-in and ranged 88s) vs Oranges (accuracy of 88s deploying under fire).
  20. A few words on file exchange rates... We are almost at the halfway point, and now would be a good time for everyone to evaluate where they are in their games, and if the current file exchange rate with your opponents will allow you to finish in time. Consider that each game turn requires 3 e-mail exchanges. There is 64 days left to go. If you are exchanging one e-mail per day, then you should be within 20 turns of games end if you want to finish in time. If you feel that you are running behind on a game or two, then may I suggest you arrange to TCP with your opponent, even if only for a few hours. In that span of time you can easily burn thru 5-10 turns depending on the game. Usually this is all that is needed to bring your game up to speed.
