1. The autosave from the 'sending' computer (the one that didn't get the 'bing) is the file that needs to be used. This from another post on this thread: The advice here seems to suggest using the autosave from the 'client/receiving' computer (the one that experiences the 'ding'). ********* So bottom line, what is the advice, this appears conflicting.
2.
quote:
Originally posted by Madmatt: and updated along with pretty much everything else and as such this is not an issue with CMBB. Madmatt[/QB]

That answered only HALF the question
3. bump-- MadMatt: Know you guys have been trying to work with this but haven't see anything of late from you and you indicated you would keep us updated on this bug. Believe there is some good testing info now in here regarding captured AT crews causing crashes. Can you please give us an update? Given the same engine, can we expect this bug in CMBB?
4. Hoookay.... guess I'll be changing my water out, too, if you'd be so kind as to send me one as well! mathewsg@earthlink.net Thanks!
5. bump-- Madmatt, seems to be enough NEW data here regarding crews that perhaps another look can be had at this bug? I'm certain you don't want this in CMBB, too. Regards
6.
quote:
but I think it will be the "crew" type which crashes the file transfer some how. This explains one reason why captures don't always cause a crash, must be a crew member captured. [/QB]

Now that I think back, this actually makes some sense. In the game I mentioned above I had a 17lbr crew captured. I am trying to think back to other crash events but can't confirm or deny this hypothesis other than the last game.
7. Well, got the ding of death AGAIN in a CMMC-related game. I suppose we'll have to LIVE with this bug though I can't imagine it being embedded in CMBB too. Happened in a scenario where prisoners were taken, reinforcments arrived, and with British forces. For me, this combination of variables seems to be the ONLY time it usually happens which is MUCH TOO FREQUENT.
8. If you think 50th is bad, lets look at games (obviously those I enjoyed) that didn't make the list at all.... Red Baron series Close Combat series Masters of Magic Railroad Tycoon M1 Tank Platoon Gunship Grand Prix Indianapolis 500 Front Page Sports Football Falcon series MOST other wargames (Gettysburg, Ancient Art of War, Shogun, etc.) Dune Myst Warlords Hexen/Heritic F19 Great Naval Battles Dungeons and Dragons Gold Box Series and the list goes on and on.... To make the TOP fifty is truly phenomenal given a good fifteen year gaming history in a multi-billion dollar industry.

10. Okee dokee, then. Why do I have NO problem with my Geoforce2 MX displaying CM properly? Hmmmm, I better check my driver version number again and make sure I DON'T update. (I should read the whole damn post the next time-- I have Win98 so I STILL won't update) [ 08-03-2001: Message edited by: LeBlaque ]
11. BUMP! (My Gawd what is it going to take-- just read the Tiger threads so let's try this approach) Hey, BTS, are you HIDING out there cuz you can't fix this one??? bhahahahahahah
12. Ok, I DID IT. I finally got a ERROR message with this redbar of death "ding" bug. Here it is: Unhandled exception: c0000005 at address 7fc69e61 WILL this be the KEY????
13. They've been very good about answering. MadMatt indicated early last month in the Tech thread that this bug was being looked into and that we should stay tuned. Some of us are just asking for an update, not a miracle. As was pointed out, they'll need to address this for CM2 anyway; so you can do the repair now or you can do it later (unless they are changing the tcp/ip code in which case they don't need to do it at all).
14. Gentlemen, PLEASE, the post is now THREE pages long in the Tech Section. At least say you DON'T ever get the bug so we can narrow it down. A little of the "gung-ho" community spirit is called for here!
15. I get this crash on Win98. In fact, I just got it AGAIN on another CMMC (very large) battle. No captures on this, just reinforcements. I believe we should have sufficiently narrowed this to these type of special circumstances. BTS, where are you on this one? Don't let us down now after all the great support!!! I imagine for every single post there are dozens of others who haven't said anything (e.g. those that don't use this board). [ 06-26-2001: Message edited by: LeBlaque ]
16. Actually I have seen the double-unit conundrum on the reinforcements, not the captures. Reinforcements arrive and there are TWO of the same unit-- EXACTLY the same. Same names, same ammo, same blah, blah, blah. I don't seem to have the bug as often as some others, but boy it is frustrating. Did I say it has only happened when I play British (which isn't often). Perhaps happenstance, but still....
17. Gents and ladies, if you could go take a look at the tcp/ip crash thread in the Combat Missions Tech Support section and add your two-cents it would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps additional feeback would help MadMatt, Steve and crew solve the problem. I have to tell you, playing a 60 turn CMMC (Combat Mission Meta Campaign) Scenario PBEM for 40 turns was quite the challenge as tcp/ip crashed. Looking forward to the normal support (duck and cover ) [ 06-14-2001: Message edited by: LeBlaque ]
18.
quote:
but had small groups of reinforcements.

I have had the same problem as well. Most recently with a CMMC game that was 60 turns-- had to finish 40 PBEM! Perhap reinforcements AND captures are the cultprit. And I must confess, I believe as well that this BUG must truly be addressed. Just as a side, this has occurred only four times total to me. Always as the red bar finishes it's load it goes windows "ding" [ 06-14-2001: Message edited by: LeBlaque ]
19. Well those last pictures just made me want to d/l the entire DFDR mod.... Didn't think I'd take the time and HD space to do that.
20. important BUMP! (aka Col. Barnes-- go ahead Ariel, SCOLD me )
21. Okay, I did a search, hopefully a "thorough" one before posting this, and am wondering if there is any word IF and WHEN a 1.13 version of CM will come out to repair the supposed invulnerable-to-infantry halftracks and any other Final-FINAL "bugs" that need squashing. Honest question, please no flamethrowers...
22. Without appearing too self-serving, I suggest going to MadMatt's site and d/l my Parker's Crossroads. I believe you will find it quite a challenge as the American forces defending against a German attack. Let me know what you think. -LeBlaque
23. I'd really like to see a few more winter mods from some of the talent out there. Wish I could remember exactly which models of Allied TD are NOT done (M-10 is done) but I recall playing a winter operation recently with some of the TD models not winterized. Tiger? Anyone???
