    As you may soon realize, there is no such thing as "ubertank" as in CMBO, as opposed to SC/C&C:RA. I suggest you play the following tank-heavy scenarios (most of them comes with the CD):

    Villers Bocage

    South to Sword

    August Bank Holiday V.2

    The Magnificant Seven

    Elsdorf - The Encounter

    You shall see that many "cats" and heavies are pretty vunlerable to "soda can" tanks including M5 Straut or even M8 HMC.

    Don't get your head blown off. All tanks come with some weak points, even in their frontal side there are skinny parts like access hatch, MG mounts, turret ring, etc. Not to mention skinner top/side/rear armor.

    So the key is learn how to use them well.

  2. This is requested before, but that doesn't make it irreverent. I am for the idea of random turn. I think BTS has it in their wish list.

    OTOH, in normal PBEM QB ME environment, people nowadays do not rush to the flags at the last turn.

    Kinda OT, but sandbags would be great for moral but of not much use in real situation, against PS and PF. Last night, I am reading "M4 - Medium Tank" from Ospey while sitting in the restroom. I came across a paragraph which mentioned some M4 crews actually wield the armor plate from KO Panther thank instead.

  5. Well the UK counter Dailmer (sp?) AC works just like their US counterpart M8. Unfortunately, German has no such vechicle with similar capability. Lynx and Puma are pretty close approximation.

  7. After reading and experiencing so many accounts M5 Starut "The Tiger Killer", I see not reason why buying a fleet of KTs and just rushing them forward to death. Well, you know, I don't buy a KT in QB at all unless it comes as is. It think it is a total waste of "credit". And fortunately, most of my fellow PBEMers are no big fan of KT/Churchill/Jumbo.

    I think well the equipment price is pretty balanced and fair right now. It is all about how to apply them together. Which means, if you are a really good player, ubertanks or not is not really important.

    P.S. OTOH, I really want to see a parameters review feature for PBEM/TCP-IP QB. I hate being cheated by OPFOR, say, I think it was CAME but turned out to be he had all armor and I am still CA. frown.gif

    Welcome aboard. I think I can answer some:

    2) Nope, same for abandoned guns. However, in operations, the next "battle" may be able to obtain replacement vechicles/guns for survived crews. That depends on how "successful" your current battle is.

    3) You mean the view "1"? I am sorry I do not follow exactly what you mean. But CM does not model LOS tool from any point like some other games.

    I hope this helps: when you use the LOS tool, you shall see red + black line when you point to a location. Red portion means the section of the view where LOS can be obtained and the black portion does not. So, you may wish to reposition your squad based on the hint provided.

    4) CM squads do not dig in automatically when "idle". It is because the time scale of the game. Moreover, squads get dug-in if they are on defense and will only have foxholes where they are placed in the setup phase.

    5) IIRC, the captured enemy will only be relived by their own troops so sending any PoW to rear will not "run away", even without LOS from any units.

    About the "true fow" issue, there has been a lot of disucssions about the "relative spotting" in a number of threads before. BTS has mentioned "relative spotting" is there in CMBO, but I am not sure if changes are made in CM2.

    BTW, the mods are nothing new. They are posted some time ago but still I am doing the samples.

  10. Thanks to SuperTed and others,

    I have fixed the color of the links and make changes to some minor stuff. Most importantly, CM SOD version 1.11 is there for your enjoyment.

    I am going to post Jason Calwey's notes on "Battle of Stalingard" (from the "CM 2 and Snipers" thread) when it is ready and then I am moving on the "SMG".

    For all you Hasbro lurkers out there, I am telling you there will be no ASL-converted scenarios in my site, only GTCG scenarioes. Understand? BTW, forgot to thank you for your support to Combat Mission.

  12. IIRC, there was even a Robotech Timberwolf mod for M18 Hellcat, wasn't it? I think I saw it somewhere? smile.gif

    For "Master Unit Modder", Kitty's "3D Hamster face mod" wins hands down. No room for other views!

    PL, you leave out "Master Infrastructure Modder" for mods on buidlings, bridges, etc. Mine goes to Tiger's Pillbox mod and ColCoolJ for his early authentic European buildings.

  13. Mine goes to the War Room mod by Treebrust155. It is very clear and concise -- giving crystal clear point where the best hull-down pos is. I saved a lot of my tanks with his mod.

On scenario ( biggrin.gif I am learning!): I am going to post maps and scenarios from which the name of Game cannot be mentioned (or for me Greatest Tactical Combat Game (GTCG) many have requested before. (Time to pay back the debt!) And no, I am not going to write myself any scenarios in the foreseeable future.

    If anybody who want to put file or mirrors to my crappy site, contact me!

    BTW, the latest CM SOD file is on my Files section. Grab it now!!! So is 2 mods made by TreeBurst155.
