That is true that the regiments were not numbered just prior to the war. However, 23rd=Royal Welch Fusiliers, 24th=South Wales Borderers, 25th=-King's Own Scottish Borderers.

Ah, I see the confusion. There is only ONE RWF (Royal Welch Fusiliers), the 23rd. Could be he was in the 1st and/or 2nd battalions. Haven't a clue there.

Well, what would be the effect on US public opinion if Adolf had declared war on Japan after Pearl Harbour? Roosevelt couldn't very well throw in with the Brits then, could he? And since Japan was like a Jillion miles away, they couldn't have hurt Adolf. hmmmmm.....

Actually, considering when it was made, The Tanks are coming has a credible mock-up of a Panther. It looks a little bit foolish, but at least they made the effort.
I do recall seeing an East European film on the foreign language TV channel many years ago. I didn't understand a word of it, but the German armour in it was definitely real, including a Tiger! It was a very old film. Perhaps it was the one mentioned above in this thread. Of course I watched it anyway...

I haven't built the 1/25 stuff, but every other Academy model I've picked up has been outstanding. The 1/35 Hellcat is a fantastic kit. If the big Panther is even half as good, it should be awesome. Not terribly useful, I know, but hope it helps anyway.

After your units target the ambush marker, issue a "hide" command to them. It helps.
If enemy units approach from some complete other direction, your units will defend themselves, so no worries there.

I believe "A" indicates a series (or variant), while "E" indicates an experimental rather than an unofficial modification.
Thus we have say, an M4A3E8
M4 (4th generation of tank)
A3 (3rd variant)
E8 (8th modification, in this case a horizontal volute spring suspension)
Note that after official acceptance, the E designation is dropped and the vehicle becomes the M4A3-76(W)HVSS. It is the identical vehicle to the M4A3E8, but the former has been approved while the latter is still technically under test.
76, of course, being the armament and W indicating wet ammo stowage.
I'm curious, too, why vehicles such as the T26 Pershing (later the M26) were introduced into field service before officially being accepted.
None of this, of course, answers the question of why there is an M60 machine gun and an M60 Tank...

Okay, just one more question on that (OIF) topic. During the HQ's tenure as a spotter, is it "active" or can it remain in hide-mode?
When a FOO is giving target instructions to its battery, it ceases to "hide" if that's what it was doing. Is the same true for Headquarters and OIF?

I won't speak for BTS, but the only way to ensure accuracy is to do some serious archival research through unit strength returns &c. It's tedious work.

A "T" prefix indicates equipment submitted for government testing and approval.
An "M" prefix indicates equipment accepted for government use.
Why the numbers are so often similar (M1 Mortar, M1 Garand, &c) is a mystery to me, but I suspect that a new number series was commenced for each category of equipment.
