Let me see if I go this right. I executed the patch and it made all kinds of folders in my Combat Mission Directory. Noy I see I have two Icons to launch the game, one for single player play and one for multiplayer. Is that right. I mean I cant seem to launch. i.e I have two little tank thingies in my Combat Mission Directory, each launches a different game. Is that right?

Exactly, thanx for the response

Is there any way to increase the number of turns, preferablt, at the end of the battle, say as an option if ya wanted to keep on fighting? If there isn't, do ya think there could be a patch that could enable this. Thanx in advance.

Apparent complete absence of tactics during Civil War.
Howdie replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I have to disagree with clausewitz on that one"destroy the enemies forces". Remember Vietnam...... -
how bad will the high res slow down my PC and if it does, how hard will it be to change back to the old graphics?

Apparent complete absence of tactics during Civil War.

The rifled musket made the rifle more deadly at longer ranges. In the revolution, ya had to be close to make your shot count, and that meant you had to be close enough, and massed enough. Ya usually only got a shot or two off before the chrge. Combine those tacticts with the rifled musket, and you are right, it does seem foolish. Ya could just stand there and blast away at each other. I think part of the reason for these tactics was the fact that winning the war meant destroying the other army. Right or wrong that is what both Grant and Lee felt I believe. Sherman and Jackson on the other hand understood that making the enemy lose the will to fight was the right answer and that didnt necessarily mean destroying the others army. Maybe they should have employed more squad based/WWII tactics. Just a thought. -
Sound off on scenarios YOU are working on...

Im defending my neighborhood against the Germans -
Ah ha! Thanx for the tip.

How about a addition wherein you only had to click on the squad leader/platoon leader to make the group move. As it is now, sometimes squades overlap and when you drag and click they can become mixed up. This is particularly helpful at the begining of scenarios where precise movement isn't as important. It would save a lot of time in the earlier going. wadda ya think?

Can anyone help me with this. I get a little static in the sound, only when I play CM. Other waves files etc sound perfect. I have a soundblaster PCI 64 card and have downloaded the newest drivers. What in the world could be causing this?

I havea PII 233 and a 8 MB voodoo II card. In the longer scenarios, at about half way through, the game gets real laggy. It starts out great, smoke graphics are fine and all, but after about 15 to 20 tuirns the game gets slow. Any ideas what i could do to improve performance. Its almost as if the RAM, of which I have 64, is getting all full up. Would saving the game and then restarting it help clear out the RAM? Ant other thought short of getting a faster/newer system? Thanx in advance.
