  1. I find the kill info useful in pointing out the most effective units in a battle (in terms of lethality). For example, did that MG really do that much damage, or did it just suppress some units. You get the point.
  2. Huang, I'm sure something was lost in the translation, so don't worry about it. I once watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation in German. They had to change a lot of the jokes so that they would make sense in German. That's probably what happened here. Welcome aboard!
  3. Good ideas... I used them against the TC's in the lead tanks, but then the sharpshooters got wiped out by the follow-on tanks before I could engage anyone else. Maybe they were too far forward. Any idea what their effective range is?
  4. I wouldn't bash Mississippi too hard - I got mine. Of course I just work there...had it delivered to LA! I suppose anyone up in Meridian will have to wait until September for it to arrive - via paradrop. "Y'all can't get thar from here".
  5. What an awesome game! If you thought that the German armor was bad-assed in the demo, just wait! Picture this (I won't give details to avoid spoilers): A tiny German armor force with a bit of infantry support stands guard over a small town in flat, rough country. A large Allied force approaches the town from several directions, but fortunately for the Germans, the terrain is perfect for the defense. Less than an hour later, the Germans still hold the town minus 40 infantry (20 KIA) and 2 AFV's. The Allied force WALKS out of town despite having outnumbered the Germans nearly 10:1! One of the star German defenders uses his AFV to knock out no less than 15 enemy vehicles and 30 infantry. I may nominate him for the hero's corner. In addition, German AT teams knock out 3 AFV's, one at a range of 140m! Just goes to show you what a few exotic cats manned by VERY experienced crews in good terrain can do. Note: I replayed that same scenario as the Germans (again) and got my tail handed to me in a paper sack! Great game, BTS! The AI is amazing - even compared to the demos.
  6. Karl, so that was YOU that almost ran me off the road on my way home! Your copy must have shipped a day or two after mine, or it would be in your sweaty little hands by now.
  7. Anyone have any suggestions for how to best deploy the SS sharpshooters? About all they did for me was cause the Shermans to button up - which isn't necessarily a bad thing! Just curious if someone has found a different use for them...
  8. I think that the only ones that get a poster are those that ordered before the Beta Demo was released. Holy smokes! You got it in Houma of all places. Did they use a fan-boat to ship it back into the swamp? That should be a good sign for the rest of the pre-orders...
  9. Hey Captain Foobar! I just got my copy today , but have to head to a conference on Friday - in San Diego! Maybe I should bring my CD along and drop by
  10. CM in Slidell! Preordered in April. Hope you boys in NO and Monroe get yours today as well. Have fun - I will! Big smiley for Mr. Peng.
  11. I had a heart attack today when I came home from work and saw my mailbox missing! Turns out the maintenance guy on our property was repairing it (someone took it out with their car earlier this week - and gave me a heart attack then too). Peace and serenity returned, however, when I found the nice priority mail envelope sitting on my porch. Time to crack this baby open! Oh yeah - I'm in Slidell, LA and preordered in April if anyone still cares...
  12. Just because you won't use it, that doesn't mean you should cheat. I absolutely sucked at certain skills, while excelling at others. All the same, I never cheated on those that I didn't do so well in - but worked hard enough to pass them. I now work at a NASA site making quite a lot of money Without cheating.
  13. Yep - as Charles would say in fine SNL fashion: "Y'all simma dah nah!"
  14. It often takes the credit card several days to post it to your account. For example, mine was charged on the 15th, but didn't even show up until yesterday. With all of your postings on the forum, I'm sure that BTS is very aware that you've ordered. Just relax and boot up the Gold Demo one last time. That's my solution. Look at it this way, at least you'll most likely be able to play it by this weekend. The guys overseas will have another week or so to sweat it out. I'm leaving town on Friday, so even I'll have to wait a week! We'll all survive...
  15. ***Biting lip*** Captain, as BTS stated earlier, once the package has left their warehouse, it's all in the hands of USPS. Unless you have received a "trouble" message from BTS, your package should be in the system. I'd refrain from encouraging others to needlessly bother BTS about things that are beyond their control. You're not the only one that has yet to receive their CD (includes me) - just remain patient; it WILL arrive.
  16. I have to agree with a lot of the guys here, Captain. There's another side to cheating that hasn't been addressed here. It can lead to a slippery slope that is tough to climb back up. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and am assuming that this is the first time that you are considering cheating. Once you cross that line and (possibly) get away with it, it will be that much more tempting to do it again in the future. The whole argument of personal honor aside (which I heartily agree with, I should point out), cheating will get you in more trouble in the long run because you neglected to learn the material in the first place. For example, you can lie at a job interview about being capable of performing a certain task, and then get the job. Ok, then what happens when your boss asks you to actually perform that task and you have no idea how to? Just some food for thought...
  17. I'm in Slidell on the north shore of Ponchartrain. Pretty dry here too up until recently. We had so much rain the other day, however that the post that my DirectTV antenna is on leaned over about 2 feet! It was kind of funny (now!): the other day, I came home to find that some idiot had slammed his car right into our mailbox and bent the pole at a ninety degree angle. I'd have hunted him down and killed him had my copy of CM been in there! Have you been to the D-Day museum yet? They did a really good job, but I was disappointed to find that the only armored vehicle on display was an M3. Lots of infantry weapons, though. Man, that 'schreck is heavy looking. No wonder my little AT teams tire out so fast!
  18. Walter, since I work in one of the science fields I'd have to strongly disagree with you by saying that I highly doubt it!
  19. ...or maybe the politicians bought off the USPS like they did with everything else in this state! Anyone in the CM Cajun Chapter gotten lucky yet?
  20. I even looked back in the bayou, but no CM CD today. At least it's cool today, I think it only reached 95
  21. Aye! At least he's not in NZ or South America. He'd drive everyone insane if this were to go on for another two weeks!
  22. Just a joke for you there, Captain! If CM is waiting for me in my red-hot mailbox baking in the southern Louisiana sun, you can bet where I'll be tonight once the CD cools off enought to touch.
  23. I live in southern Louisiana - and this is definitely not a dry heat. My copy is probably molding away in my combo humidifier/steamer/mailbox as I write this.
  24. I checked my credit card today - charged! Called home at lunch and found that there's a nice shiny copy of CM waiting. I had planned on canoeing in the bayou out back tonight, though, so I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow or Wednesday to really get into my new game
  25. Germanboy wrote: That is actually somethin I find very difficult, when is the right time to stop hiding your HMG team and open up. Do it too early and you get slaughtered, do it too late and you get rushed. Any opinions? I've always had trouble judging this too. The experience level of the supporting (defending) infantry really seems to be a deciding factor (how's THAT for a profoundly obvious statement). I'll elaborate. If I have some veteran/regular infantry supporting the MG, I sometimes try rushing the attacker in small counterattacks. Sometimes it really throws them off balance, if my MG and mortars are suppressing them. You can get a bloody nose trying this, however, if the enemy regains its composure while you are in mid-charge! Unless you can throw the enemy back, the MG is ultimately doomed to extinction via tank-fire, artillery barrage, or infantry charge.
