1. CP, If I would use the bombastic approach to writing subject lines, then I would be stepping on Matt's toes. So, my utilitarian approach helps give Matt's subject lines their...ah....thunder. And, as we all know, without thunder Matt is...um...well...I'm not sure, but you get the idea. Also, ALL of my updates will refer to news from other sites. That is precisely what I am doing. It is also precisely what I did at Forward Observer. I have gone to great lengths at FO and CMHQ to remain "invisible" and let the updates from the sites have the entire spotlight. I assure you, my opinions and comments are NOT what people want to read. It is the mods and scenarios they want. I am just pointing them in the right direction. So, I hope you don't mind if I keep a low profile. lcm1947 and Michael Dorosh, Thanks, guys. You make it all worthwhile. [ 10-06-2001: Message edited by: SuperTed ]

 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Manx: I find that there is always something "safe", "reassuring" and yes, "comforting", every time i see this thread. Your never quite sure when it's gonna show up, but you know what it will look like when it does!

Thanx, Manx (I think).
 4. Panzerman has finally finished his latest at The Scenario Zone.
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Cubbies Phan: Another redundant thread title! Sorry couldn't help myself.

CP...my biggest phan...
 6. Manx has lots of good stuff brewing at COMBAT MISSIONS.
 7. I assume a commander generally does not know what the enemy's objectives are. Of course, these will usually become apparent at some point in the battle. However, I suspect there were times when two sides in a conflict had very different objectives for their current battle. As an example, let's assume side A is tasked with holding a village. At the same time, side B is tasked with inflicting casualties on the enemy. For side B, capturing flags is irrelevant. Of course, if they destroy the enemy they will likely capture the flags as well. What I am proposing is that each side has its own set of victory conditions, not just an arbitrary set of flags shared by both sides. I believe not knowing (initially) what the enemy's objectives are would lead to a new level of planning. A player would know what to take (or do), but not what to prevent the enemy from taking (or doing). Anyway, this idea is not as fleshed-out as I would like it to be, but I just thought I would throw it out there to see what the response would be. Thanks.

Also, will you do a mod so the hippies are wearing tie-dyed uniforms?
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Fieldmarshall: OF course of course it was just a joke... I needed to post SOMETHING so why not poke a little joke at ol'Superted...? No need to be offended, just a laugh you see..I understand your purpose at CMHQ we all do, every website does it of course..just a joke.. dont take it seriously, I mean most of us are here to have a laugh right?

FM, No problem. I suspected that you did not intend to offend. I just wanted to let you know that it struck a nerve. That's all. Yes, a laugh at my expense is fine. As a matter of fact, I encourage it.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Fieldmarshall: Excuse me Ted, but is that all you do these days? Tell us about other peoples news that has already been told to us? Is that now CMHQ sole purpose these days? When mods and scenarios used to be at CMHQ, now its just a paging service for other CM websites... Superted here is my advice to you: (now dont tell Matt I said this) Organize a Coup E'tat and oust that evil dictator Madmatt...claim yourself head of CMHQ I mean your just his propaganda minister arent you? And once you take power get us some bloody REAL updates! Sorry just had to get that off my chest...have a good day all. [ 10-02-2001: Message edited by: Fieldmarshall ]

FM, Actually, this particular thread refers to the MASSIVE update at Forward Observer... Yes, I have always posted updates from other websites. That was the sole purpose of Forward Observer and it is what I do at CMHQ. I (and Matt) would like to do more, but our schedules are both very full these days. However, as CM2 approaches, we'll be providing updates to fan that fire, so to speak. Now, I am sure you did not mean to sound obnoxiuos in your comments. But, I have to be honest with you. I enjoy the fact that I can make a small contribution to a community that provides me with so much satisfaction. If what I do adds to somebody else's enjoyment, then I am pleased. I assume what I do does not impress you and that is fine. I never claimed to be doing anything but posting other people's messages on a bulletin board to help disseminate information. I know it's not flashy, but I like to think it is useful to a few people. So, in a nutshell, despite what I am sure was no offense meant...offense taken. Ted
 15. 109 Gustav has added a small contribution at The Last Defense.
 16. Magnus has a little treat at Appui-Feu before the big move. Thanks for the feedback, guys. It makes all the hard work worth it. I may alternate subject lines, as my moods dictate. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: SuperTed ]
 17. Manx is busy getting COMBAT MISSIONS back in working order. Note: I spent countless hours developing my new subject line. I hope you like it.

 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Shadow 1st Hussars: By the end of the week we'll be on 100!

Actually, I think it would be more like a month before we hit 100.
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Cubbies Phan: I second that. Especially since you can never really tell if its an old one or a new one.

Actually, each day has only one CMHQ thread (from me) and all the updates for that day are found in it.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Adam Lloyd: You know, we could go for some more original thread announcement titles

Huh?
