I believe the map sizes will be a lot smaller too. So, less units, smaller maps, hazy horizon, but what you see within those limitations is not too bad.

He does not like an Altan album? Clearly more prove than ever was needed that he is a, errr, thing without a sense for the beauty that there is to be found in Co. Donegal. Where I am sure they have lots of Ford Escort's too! BTW the seller said it was the best car he ever had. Surely an Australian would not lie?

Great post buq-buq.

Not quite, it is a blue 1995 Ford Escort with 162k km. Vrooom vrooom

I bought a car off an Australian last Sunday. A mistake?

I refuse to believe for a second that a towed gun is preferable to any version of that same gun on a motorised and armoured SP mount. The Germans mounted the Pak 40 on the unarmoured RSO. If the Archer is considered bad, imagine what the unarmoured and open-decked RSO was like. Then imagine the comments on that one if it was in CMBB... They also had the 88mm on 18t FAMO HTs in 1940 and 1941, and they did good business. What about the Marder variants? Or the PAK 40 on HT mount? Or whatever weird and wonderful contraption they did come up with... Remember that in Real Life™, the German opponents of the Archer did not have Borg Spotting. Backing into any position with a vehicle is not a problem, given sufficient training. I find the comments in Hogg quite believable.

Elijah Meeks [offkey]Sing and heave, and heave and sing, To me hoodah! To me hoodah! Heave and make the handspikes spring, To me hoodah, hoodah, day! Chorus: And it's blow, boys, blow, For Californio! For there's plenty of gold, So I've been told, On the banks of the Sacramento! 2. From Limehouse Docks to Sydney Heads, To me hoodah! To me hoodah! Was never more than seventy days. To me hoodah, hoodah, day! Chorus: 3. We cracked it on, on a big skiute, To me hoodah! To me hoodah! And the old man felt like a swell galoot. To me hoodah, hoodah, day! Chorus: [/offkey]

I don't think that story is correct, since I do not believe they were ever changed for towed 17-pdrs, and instead remained in service to the end of the war (even beyond, I guess).

Well knock me over with an armoured feather, and kick me shins with a horse. That was really Mensch, and he is still as mad as a particularly mad brush who has a degree in advanced madness from the Oxbridge College of Mad Studies. Mad.

The Ostrich feather is probably connected to the Prince of Wales? Ich Dien and the blind king of Bohemia, and Crecy, and all that? Any connections there?

I told ye all he was a bad omen </font>

Mensch? I think I owe you some money. Nothing to do with Joe, I came because Geier blackmailed me into it. I swear it is true, I do.

The only potential upside of not closing the pocket completely is that it is a lot less messy to clean it up, without all the die-hards fighting to the last man. Letting some escape lets you move on faster. Since a lot of the escapees (and most of their material) were presumably caught on the way back to Germany, during the Allied dash across northern France, it may not have been as bad an effect as it could have been.

Highly recommend this book...

Just read the paper - very interesting. Thanks to Dook for the link. My favourite quote concerns the operations of s.Pz. Abt. 501 during BAGRATION: Cor blimey guv, who would have thought...
