1. Teach,

Not sure if you did this or not. But did you try targeting the Firefly even though it was out of sight? Not sure if your tiger would have held that target long enough for the firefly to appear. But just a suggestion.

  2. Tis alright Sniper,

With the settings we had. It seemed Like I was facing the russian Hoard on the east front. I have the americans held at bay. Not sure how much longer we can hold them off though. I've radioed my Major and let him know that he needs to send some reinforcments if he expects us to stand here.

Where is Goring and his promised 1000 jabo's?

  3. Just wanted to post a thank you to Turret.

First weeks battles have come and gone. Was a lot of fun!

I won't post propaganda... to early to know the results along the entire front.

But I will offer congrats to my fellow German commanders. Seems the majority made the Fatherland Proud.

    Sieg Heil!

  4. amen,

I for one wouldn't want to have to download a 3 meg file everytime a single vehicle was added.

I like the way it is. You get a screenshot of the new texture, and can pick and choose which ones you want.

  5. Billwood,

quote:
by the more than willing Irish, who wanted very badly to fight along side the Nazis.

Ummm.. I know the Irish had just finished fighting a civil war with England, and many of them looked at the war with favor (but only in that it provided much needed jobs). But I never read of the huge Nazi party in Ireland and the scores of men trying to find passage to Europe to fight along side the Nazi's.

If you could be so kind I'd love to hear the source on that.

  6. I think the easiest thing to do is self monitor. If someone sent me a scenario that had obviously been altered then I would politely tell them to "Kiss my ass". People who would cheat like that don't last long. Word gets around real quick.

  7. actualy, When my AC cuts on the filter bangs and makes the same sound. Sadly the air return is right outside of the door where I play CM. Many time I've heard that and searched the screen like mad for that hidden AT team.

Between that, and scheduling my day around good times to check my e-mail, I think I have finally gone mad.

  8. well Jackhammer...

    That was colorful.

So much for "adults" being able to discuss things in a civil manor.

As an american who has served, I will state wholehartedly that I love my country. Yes I did hate being sent to godforsaken dirtpiles to be the world police. But hell, someone has to do it.

I also admit that most of the US policy revolves around what is in its best intrest. Thats just the way countries operate. We do offer a lot of Aid and help to countries that are in need. And yes.. No one offers any aid to us. I guess it is the "they are the USA, they can take care of themselves" syndrom. Living here in North Carolina and seeing a third of my state underwater last year after Hurricanes... I can attest that most other countries just don't give a ****. But in fairness, Except for money from washington, It seemed none of our own states give a **** either.

Well now that I've managed to ramble and go no where, I'll sign off.

  9. If you only own one WWII game. Make sure Combat Mission is it. It is by far the most realistic WWII squad level game I have ever seen. If you want some outside opionions goto the Review bullet on the left.

Also download the Demo. You won't be dissapointed. As I'm sure the others that post after me will confirm.

  10. Just my 2 cents here.

I think the ambush marker, so far, is the best.

Place the marker and then hunt up the crest until you have LOS to it. Might be Hull-down..Might not be hull down. It's up to the player to decide a good place to put it and use a good slope that afords some protection.

As a side note. I don't see really any problem with the way the game is now. I just hide my AFV behind the crest. Best ambush position is an unseen one. Then when an enemy unit comes in to range target and then hunt for hull down. Since you can see all anyway, you can see the enemy coming even though your AVF is out of LOS of the target.

  11. I'd love TCP/IP, But I also enjoy PBEM.

A lot of the people I'm playing now are time zone handicapped. So PBEM is almost a must. I just try to PBEM with people that keep up the same scedule as me, 1 or 2 turns a day. Add to that that I usually have 3-5 games going at once....it gets pretty hectic.

I like having several games going at once, because I really look forward to the e-mail.

But.. Playing a quick tcp/ip game in the morning would be really nice too.

    starting to ramble now....

  12. Thanks for the kind words Tobruk.

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The changes I made were minor. So You don't have to worry there. I believe it has become pretty balanced, but I will say the americans have the advantage. I think this one would bode well for a PBEM game.

    Thanks again.

  13. Von Shrad!!!!

Damn man, Your only the 2nd person in my 10 years of being on the net, that knew where my nick came from.

    I'm impressed...

Kind of sad using the name of a power mad king, that messed up and doomed all of his people to live in a nightmare that he created.... suits me to a tee.
