  1. I'm down to only losing er... playing 2 games right now and am looking for a couple others. I figure the more I play the better chance I have at actualy winning one. smile.gif

I prefer QB's and letting the computer pick forces( get more practice at odd ball stuff).

If your game, just let me know or drop me a line. e-mail address is in profile.

I'm good for one sometimes two turns a day.

  2. yes Torni,

So whats wrong with making the 3d easier to see?

I can understand everyones position on this. I also haven't decided If I want to try them or not. But I think something like this is a nice tool to have. Personaly when using some of the new grass mods, I find it almost impossible to judge elevation from even level 1 views. Doesn't mean I can't get my tanks in a nice hull down position. (I think I'm pretty good at that). Just that it might not take as long to plot and re-plot the moves to do it.

This is also a first attempt, nice job that it is. I think it could be made a little less obtruisive. The one for the snow (in the screenshots) looks great. I think the one for the grass should be made a little less visable though. You could see the lines in the original tiles but very faint. I think something between the lines in the orignal and the new would be nice.

  3. I agree with BTS on this one.

If you want a feeling of advancement over a long Campaign, then join something like the CMMC. Personaly I'me having a lot of fun playing in the Role playing campaign that James is running.

I'd say look for the oppertunity to do something like that, or start on yourself. Pretty nifty plan that James has running. He gives you battle paramiters, you fight the battle and give him the results. Depending on how you and your fellow team members do.

He then desides on wheather or not your defending or attacking, force experience levels, size, and equipment you get for your next turn(battle).

Not only does this feel like a real campaign, but it gives a great feeling of being the part of something bigger.

Not to mention role playing your charactor and bragging and/or taunting the others.

    Just my .02 worth.

  4. All I'm saying is this. You can see the edges in the original tiles anyway. All this does is highlight them.

Look at the hill in the following screenshot. The edges are already there.

    attack.jpg

I've not decided wheather or not to try them or not. But I think it is just a matter of what you like.

Especialy given the fact that lots of people who downloaded Matt's mod pack.

Have went back and installed the original grass textures.... WHY?

because they couldn't judge elevation anymore,

(the "gamey" edges that show up in the original textures aren't there.)

  5. Just my .02

I haven't downloaded the files yet. So I'm going by the screenshots.

Pro: makes it easy to see elevations and dips when using mod grass textures.

Cons: It could be unfair to those that don't have it. You can't turn it off.

As for gamey? I really don't think so. You can see the outlines on the original grass textures that ship with the game. That was why you got the complaints for the new hi-res grass textures. We couldn't see the lines (edges) anymore. I look at it more is highlighting the edges that were already there to begin with.

As for people counting tiles to get range? well.. this was already discussed in threads months ago. It seemed to be the general concensious that people were doing this to some point or another. I think people use the LOS tool more for this anyway. In the end you learn to judge range by sight pretty easy anyway, just by playing.

    Just my thoughts.

  6. Jeff,

Thanks for your time on running that test.

Weather your results are spot on or off a bit, it gives great base to work with.

I think its something that a lot of people have been kind of wondering about. Just a good list of this is better than this.

    Thanks again for your time.

  7. jpinard.

BTS has said that there will be no blood. For those of us from the beta demo days, there wasn't even bodies. The bodies were put in more for reference, so you can check the status of your "eliminated" units and see kill stats ect.. They weren't ment to be battle field candy.

If you play with bases on there really isn't a problem getting them confused. It also helps playing because when the base dissapears you know without having to zoom also.

I also believe that the bodies use the exact same .bmp file as live bodies do. The unit is just shown face up. So if you bloody your graphics, you will just end up with something that looks like "night of the living dead".

  8. It mostly depends on "where" the person I'm playing is. I work nights, so with my fellow americans I can usually only fire off a turn per day. When I play someone overseas, I do much better. I'm on-line at home during the mornings.. or their evening hours.

  9. actualy Blue, I don't find it a problem. My wife just says I'm anal. But I replay each movie over and over, till I find out where every shot is comming from. (except those hidden with FOW). Mad's mad dog sound pack really helps in knowing when one of your guys gets it.
