  5. I downloaded and installed the new patch, should each map be pulled out of it's own folder and overwrite the maps already in the map folder? The way I read the instructions each separate map folder went into the maps file.
  6. ...I haven't received the verification code; I'm not much into card games but this is very enjoyable:) pkpowers@grandecom.net
  7. Thanks for the reply sir, I did some research, and found the arial font had been deleted when I un-installed Korsun pocket:( (guess it took one with it>>>)...I copied another font off the work pc and I'm back in business, thanks again
  8. Thanks for your support in the past and making a great game. My problem is that the text in Tacops has been changed by the installation of another program. I restored the registry and reinstalled Tacops4 to no avail. For some reason I believe the arial font was replaced(?) I have check all my other programs and Tacops appears the only one where the text changed. Not a big problem, but I want my old Tacops4:) Thanks for any help sir.. Phil K. Powers

  12. Thanks for hosting that game James ; I'd have to say that anyone who owns or played Tacops hasn't enjoyed it enough yet until they play in a CPX, it was very exciting.
  13. I'll be able to play for 3 or 4 hours at least. I'm not on ICQ , will you post the IP address here or email me? pkpowers@cox.net
  14. Hey James ; can anyone join this Tacops Saturday game? I'm interested to see how the CPX works> thanks , Phil K. Powers
  15. Thanks for the advice; I ended trying almost the same setup as you mentioned and eliminated all OPFOR (with 50 % losses to the good guys)(which is not good either!)...I discovered my setup error after my post, I had always setup inside the (black lined) objective only, not back along the western wadis...no wonder I had a rough time at it. Next time I'll pay more attention.
  16. For me, TF Davis is one tough scenario. Does anyone have a successful solution? I've tried different combinations, just wondered if anyone else has won this one.

    TF Marks

I had read earlier remarks about attacking the terrorist camp in TF Marks, and having played it many times in the past (and lost) , I gave it another try giving the recon/snipers a more active role. It is a very exciting scenario, and I finally won the fight, with one minute to spare! With the final transport helos leaving the area gave the good guys a 55% exit ratio and a win. Sadly I had to leave a MG unit on its own in town and all else (left living) had exited. Terrorist losses reached 80-90%.... An excellent scenario, Major!
  18. The site loads fast and is very good...excellent job, sir!
  19. The discussion about the doctrine of various countries/cultures is a very good topic. I've studied the Soviet style quite a bit, trying to employ it in my games. I feel their approach should gain better results than the past has shown. Is the art of war a science, that formulas can be applied to, or is it so imperfect this cannot be done? No plan survives contact with the enemy. Like I said, this can be a very good discussion...
  20. I do like these hetzers ;just don't like running into them....last turn I just had 2 rick-o-shays off its frontal armor...come on lucky shot!!!
  21. A very interesting thread. In a nutshell, US doctrine reinforces failure ; Soviet doctrine reinforces success....
  22. Sorry....but von Luck passed away in the summer of 1997.
  23. I've removed TOAW1 off my hard drive. To me it was way too generic of a game to cover WW2 well enough. What I have replaced it with are the Panzer Campaigns 1+2 by HPS. They cover WW2 the best right now in the realm of operational stuff. Also, HPS' Tigers on the Prowl and Panthers in the Shadows are excellent WW2 tactical games. Graphics are a bit dated, but I'm after realism, not eye-candy. [This message has been edited by pkpowers (edited 10-02-2000).]
  24. Thanks for the answers to my questions. I have a PII 233 mhz so I shouldn't have any problems. The demo plays good. Most of the time I play with trees off and buildings invisible to make it easier to see everything.
