  1. Thanks very much Rambler---great news but do remember the sun and the beach are bad for your health --much better for you enjoying yourself indoors with weapon upgrades---you know it makes sense. On a more serious note---is there any way you could issue the Commonwealth "chunk" first before all the other refinements are necessarily completed as the rest is already very very good whilst the CW area is really desperately in need of upgrade-----and also some of us more ancient CW officiendos are already living on borrowed time ......... Cheers and thanks
  2. May I enquire whether there is in the pipeline any Commonwealth weapons upgrade similar to the excellent earlier upgrade of German and U.S weapons by Rambler. Whenever I fight a battle with Commonwealth units I am struck by the real need for a similar weapons upgrade to enhance the visual experience and battle immersiveness. Anything on the horizon please ?
  3. Dont think it would ever occur to anyone that a DC military error could ever crop up. Perhaps the lesson is you cant expect to cut and paste the DCLI and get away with it. Dont risk that again........... Cheers
  4. DC ---Have to admit to ignorance re the "rsquo;s" lurking with the DCLI------but my education was severely limited------unless it refers to an improperly coded apostrophe...Thanks
  5. Seem to be some interlopers hiding in the DCLI---is there something we should know??
  6. Oh DC you are a terrible tease----you dont moonlight as well as a male stripper do you? --and Im trying very hard not to actually think about it.............
  7. Greetings DC---just set up first heroic DCLI engagement---really impressed by the whole mod and in particular by the brilliant portrayal of the mythical Wessex Wyvern ---not an easy creature to depict I imagine--- and also impressed by the clarity of all the insignia included. Many thanks---and worth the rediculously long wait for this elite division and battalion-----Cheers---will let you know if I glean anything further re the gold-on-black version
  8. DC Re your query my understanding was that the DCLI was a white on red patch. But i know that the gold and black are a very traditional Cornish combination. I have written to a cousin of mine who served just post war with the DCLI and who still lives in Cornwall to see if he can shed any light on this really crucial issue......watch this space............
  9. DC -I have another more serious error to point out------so far no mention of the 43rd Wessex Div--totally incomprehensible...............
  10. Excellent news re 214 Brig of the Wessex Wyverns DC-----dont worry too much about the Somersets and Worcesters ----go for la creme de la creme first "One for all and all for one" a bientot................
  11. This is probably true of "most human brains"--but QBs have a number of other important alternative and separate advantages----abilty to fight at any time and however quickly or slowly fits your own life style and current commitments or motivation . No need for waiting on someone elses availability to return mails etc-- and being able to select the exact type or scale of batttle you individually wish to experience or experiment with. I think that both HtoH and individual QBs have their own advantages and would argue for the fullest development and potential of each-----not an "either-or" but of "both" formats
  12. NB--In the meantime , to eliminate these unrealistic defensive moves and facings, it may be the lesser of 2 evils to largely programme at least for the bulk of the defensive force the v. best positional defenses and to defend in situ-------clearly a less than optimal plan but one which at least provides a realistic problem for the attacker and does not produce a ludicrous "wrong-facing" defense and a non-battle and no satisfaction for the player.
  13. Both your points clearly valid and I can now fully appreciate the nature of the problem. Guess we'll need to accept the current shortcomings and hope that they only rarely cause a battle to really become a fiasco.---------------and also trust that some brilliant programmer can in the future design a more reliable QB AI.for the variety of different battle types which can appear.
  14. Thanks very much for your constructive comments. I would just add 2 amateur observational comments 1)In the game I was depicting it was an "Armoured only" battle and there should have been no armour/infantry conflict issue for the A.I 2 I have been playing many Defensive battles recently and have seen no issues of this type with AI armour in attack---I suppose it is easier to programme attacks or variety of attacks with predesignated objectives than it is to programme defensive tactics against an enemy which can approach from a variety of directions ,paths and speeds.?????
  15. I play quite a lot of QBs but my last battle has thrown up an issue which has produced a very unrealistic and unconvincing encounter. The battle was a Medium Attack by Brits v SS (armour only) QB Medium Hills QB017 The basic issue was throughout the whole attack all the SS enemy armoured units--even after any of my units started firing, remained static and facing in the wrong direction and ended up being destroyed facing away from the source of the attack. Examination of the map after the battle was over revealed all the SS armoured units (though in reasonable defensive terrain and positions) were all facing in the same wrong direction. I know very little re the AI which is created within QBs but this particular situation was a real mockery of what should have been happening. It is the first time I have encountered such an unconvincing display by any QB AI and trust it is a real one-off---but I thought it worth bringing to the attention of those vetting QBs and their quality. I must conclude by stating that I have normally been very impressed and extremely grateful to all those involved in creating these QBs and appreciate the skills and effort invested. Thanks
  16. And I do know what you are creating after the Commandoes----and that is the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry of the Wessex Div-----------cant attack Hill 112 til then. You can make an old man very happy.....................................
  17. Strongly second the plea re CW module support for this outstanding sound mod..... Many thanks
  18. Darknight Canuck----------Am much encouraged by your Churchillian reference--- and I dont mind you being a bit anal as long as you occasionally" feel the urge" for what my chemist father-in-law used to term a BGS....... Many thanks
  19. Thanks Mord--I see what you mean--and I recall now I did raise this issue in general back in October 2011 and Darknight did indicate an interest. I really hope he will be able to do something re British infantry shoulder patches. Thanks for your reminder.
  20. Mord you are such a tease----a crumb of substance to sustain hope please.......
  21. Mord and Canuck have just produced a brilliant range of portaits. I should just like to enquire whether any modder has it in mind to produce any British Infantry Div shoulder patch mod to augment the basic in-game West Yorks one. I should very much like to relate the British infantry portrait of e.g the 43 Wessex Div with in-game infantry displaying the Wessex shoulder patch etc. Any chance??--Thanks
  22. As the person who asked the original question i should just like to thank sincerely all you guys who contributed-- for your very constructive , thoughtful and well argued contris---they all had their merits and demerits and they really provided an excellent range of tactical choices for me and no doubt many others to make any future decisions when assaulting . Thanks to all.......
  23. I would like to read views re the way you have found best for conducting the actual infantry assault. I am not referring here to the need for suppressive fire etc but the most effective ways of ordering the assault itself-----eg do you use the "Assault" command where the section advances in three spaced successive groups or use a "Quick" move order to the objective to the whole section together---or some other approach. Would appreciate your views and opinions about this. Thanks
