  1. I just tried it with a SU-85 and a 76 mm anti tank gun hidden in a barn. The SU-85 remains hidden until it shoots then is half way out. The anti tank gun remains hidden even when shooting and doesn't jump out.

I put a Stug and a Panther on a test map with the anti tank gun in a barn. the anti tank gun shot and hit the Stug twice and you couldn't see it.  I put the Panther on Hunt command after the anti tank gun shot at the Stug and with the hatch open it didn't see the anti tank gun until it got to about 100 meters.

That's going to make some pretty interesting scenarios...😀

  2. I had the same thing happen to me when making the map for the scenario I'm working on now. When changing a contour line like from 30 to 40 and your line isn't straight to begin with and the numbers cover several hexes. When you go back over it and miss one or two you'll get some big pot holes and can be hard to find especially if it's not part of the map you look at a lot. The numbers are small in the editor and I had to use a magnifying glass to go over it to find them all...😀

    I finished the scenario
    the map is really great
I didn't know about this battle, I looked at what happened in real life: big battle.
it turns out that I have on several occasions crossed the battlefield without knowing what had happened
I had my first tank losses in the area of the cemetery as it happened in real life.
It's very easy for the Germans, I think you should add anti-tank guns to rebalance, there were some in 1945
In any case very beautiful, and a vast map allowing the maneuver, I love

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on a few changes now.

  4. My scenario is ready to be play tested by anyone who is interested.  Due to the amount of tanks to keep track of it's basically tank vs tank with the exception of some Soviet dismounted infantry in the village. I have the battle set for an hour an ten minutes but has run shorter than that. Maybe because I've played it umpteen times checking things out...😀

You don't need the log4 mod as that area isn't in this battle but may be in future scenarios and is nice to look at when looking over the map.

This is my first scenario so it's not too complicated but is a good slug fest with Tigers, King Tigers and T-34/85's.  Germans vs Soviet AI.

They should have standardized their equipment and gone for a production-line style process, like the US did with their equipment.

True. You could say that most of them were custom made. There was a picture of their assembly line in the World War II magazine sometime ago. Each tank had a ladder going in it indicating that each tank got individual attention and production was very slow. The Soviets and US  were strictly assembly line.

They should also have stuck with one version of their halftracks, like the Sd.Kfz. 250. They had so many variations that repairing them must have been a nightmare for the repair depots.

  6. It's a winter scenario so it looks kind of bleak. It's a 4k by 4k map and while all of it won't be in this scenario it leaves room for additional battles as tank battles were occurring all over the place at this time.

It's going to be the tank battle of Lisow based on the book "Tank Battles in East Prussia and Poland 1944-1945: Vilkavishkis, Gumbinnen/Nemmersdorf, Elbing, Wormditt/Frauenburg, Kielce/Lisow by Igor Nebolsin."

The map took about 6 weeks to do as it took a little while to figure out what I was doing, not hard once you figured out what to do. Worked on it every day up to 8 hours some days (made for some interesting dreams at night...😀).

Now if I can get the pixel tanks and pixeltruppen to do what I want it should be a good game.

  7. The book "The Tanks of Operation Barbarossa: Soviet versus German Armour on the Eastern Front by Boris Kavalerchik"  (  https://www.amazon.com/Tanks-Operation-Barbarossa-Soviet-Eastern/dp/1399014293/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1641566389&sr=8-1) is a very good read on the actual quality of the German and Soviet tanks. One aspect of the Soviet tanks that is very rarely mentioned is that quite a few of the people building them never even saw a bicycle before and now they were building tanks!

The Soviet engineers continually reduced the amount of parts that went into the T-34 so they wouldn't be that complicated to build.  It's been a while since i read it and should read it again but I remember thinking that the T-34 quality wise was a piece of junk compared to the Germans but as Stalin reportedly has said "Quantity has a quality of it's own."
