  1. Pillar, from the discussion I'm assuming that "the system" is designed for an attacking force, right?

But in RL any given force needs to be prepared to defend as well.

And if this system is tried in a defensive situation, a sneaky attacking HQ unit spotting for some mortars could wreak havoc on those big guns. You then either have to position your guns with LOS of about SMG range, or those mortars WILL get you. wink.gif

Even though I agree that this would be an effective attacking force, and that this is partly because CM presently doesn't handle MGs very well, I still think that "the system" would fail in RL due to:

    1. No effective defense.

    2. That kind of troop density would bleed other areas dry of men.

  2. Homba said:

If "flag fixes needed" fails to get their attention, I doubt a broader title will... Of course they may have been reading this thread all along (but I doubt it).

Have no fears, most of the betatesters are most definitely reading this thread. wink.gif

The system for determining the ownership of a VL could surely use some improvement, but I'm afraid that so could a lot of other issues. I'll make sure the other testers are aware of this thread, and we'll see how it flies.

What is possible to change for CM2 remains to be seen, but your arguments will be taken into consideration. (How's that for a non-commitment? smile.gif)

  3. I agree with all that's been said, and, as Panzer Leader, I think this forum is an important extra bonus.

I just started playing Warlords Battlecry (my first RTS ever, bar CC) and I like it a lot. Comparing it to CM is apples and oranges, but all games I've played so far pales in comparison with CM.

While trying to learn more about WBC I have enrolled in the WBC forum. Although the designers are there, and they give very good support, there are also just a tad too many immature people there.

The mature, relevant and often well-argued discussions on the CM forum is a constant source of joy.

We should all congratulate ourselves for achieving this. We are all richer for it.

  4. Perchpole,

    just be patient, okay?

Questioning BTS's choice of delivery method won't get you your game any faster. Not that they had much of a choice to begin with.

People have been slamming BTS for both their prices and for deliveries taking too long. No matter where on the sliding scale between Expensive and Fast on one end and Cheap and Slow on the other BTS choose to position themselves, they'd get criticised for their choice.

As about half of all complaints are about prices and the other half is about delivery speeds, I'd say they've chosen a fairly good middle ground, wouldn't you say? wink.gif

And, secondly, if your post office says 4 days, that really is a promise you should hold THEM responsible for, not BTS, right?

  5. I just downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers, Detonator 3. I have a NVIDIA Riva TNT2 m64, 32 gig, card and before the download I had no problems running CM at all.

But after I installed the drivers my mouse is flickering. It flickers in CM and it flickers even if I have no programs open but Active Desktop running. If I turn Active Desktop off, then it runs smoothly on the desktop.

Can anyone please help me get my mouse pointer back to the flicker-free state it was in before? I'd like to keep the new drivers, as they help up some other games, but CM is the most important one, so if this can be solved without reverting back to my old drivers I'd be very grateful.

  6. Scipio,

    B) A generic, US, engineer platoon comes with two FT teams. Not including them would be unhistorical. Granted, QBs are somewhat unhistorical to start with, but we could at least play with the historical units, right?

c)This is already in the game.

d+a) How far into the map you have to push is determined by choosing the type of aggression, Probe, Attack or Assault. Pushing farther is more dificult, hence the difference in purchase points. Lower the turn-limit to minimum and see how much harder the Assault becomes. With speed being of essence you really need the extra points given in an assault.

    e) Agreed.

    f) Agreed.

  7. Can't you all see that Bates is right?

I often feel very offended when people refer to Sweden as "a country in Northern Europe" Since this clearly implies that we are more distanced from the center-of-action than others.

I also try not to use the words "floor" and "ceiling" as it would be extremely prejudicial, and would belittle other parts of the room. I think anyone who uses these two terms are just showing their empathy towards the aggressive middle part of the room.

    - Nurse, did I really get the right pills...? wink.gif
