Hard to believe but who knows?
I have tried it about 6 or 7 times now using all kinds of plans. Smoke, no smoke, sneak, no sneak, full arty missions, all MG's on one bunker, ect...
I just cannot get up to the bocage line without taking 70% casulties.
I am thinking the addition of more smoke would make this a bit more achievable.

Womble....
I would llike to have you try again with 2.01 and report back here. I am really starting to think that with the new MG's and tough bunkers the "Redux" version (green troops) is an unbeatable mission.
-
Are you playing the revised version or the normal one? That would definately a difference because the revised one features more green troops for the player, i.e. is the harder one.
I haven't tried in 2.01 but before I always managed to knock-out the bunkers with concentrated MMG and rifle fire and the enemy HMGs with mortar fire from relatively long range (the beach essentially) but that might not work anymore now.
It doesn't work anymore. I have put up to 3 MG's against a bunker but no kill.
-
Really? Nobody??
I think this first mission might be broken with 2.0
I hate "balanced" battles but there is really no way to not get slaughtered here.
-
Straight forward question: How the heck do you get past this mission?
I am a CM vet. I am even a beta tester but I have tried this mission again recently and it, quite pointedly, kicks my butt. I cannot get off the beach. There is so little smoke it just does not make a big enough cloud or hang around long enough (about 1 minute). I just don't have the tools to get off the beach against HMG's and MG's in bunkers.
Please, if you have not played it since 2.0 then give it a whirl and give me a battle plan. I am almost to the point of trying a blind charge but that will be nasty I think!
What works for you guys?

Yeah....I am on your side GAJ but 20% time on the tits is no real problem for Bill IMHO.
Time to HUNKER DOWN.
What is the truth????

GAJ is afraid?
-
Bil writes "I'm convinced now that GaJ is on the reverse slope now as my dismounts are very close..." and "No doubt GaJ is on the reverse slope on the Right Tit as well.."
I love it in this game when you are convinced of one thing only to find out later how wrong you were.

They are all red X's to me right now as well. I am trying to view them, however, from the Dominican Republic.
-
Whatever you do don't google "Bulge Photos"!!!
-
What do the allies have at this point to deal with an Elefant? 90mm AA? If so, can it take it put with a side hit? Any armor with tungsten rounds available?
I'm thinking AT mines and/or heavy arty.
-
Setup zones as well will be interesting to see on this one. I want to see how far forward you can plant some AT mines.
Oh, I am sure you already know this but that sunken intersection? TRP city!
-
For this one remember: "He who defends everything, defends nothing."
-
Not allowed to put armour or heavy guns in the upper township?
Why on earth not?
-
I'd like to differ. I agree with you that shooting straight up into 8th floor is a rather seldom occurrence.
What's IMHO worse is the lack of limits to gun depression. Because that makes it easy for tanks to defend versus close assaults. And I mean VERY close assaults with grenades.
Without a limit to depression a tank can literally shoot through its own motor.
A grenade assault which does not kill the tank is the death sentence for the attacker because a tank has no blind spots where it can't shoot you.
For a certain type of battle this happens quite often. See picture.
This is such a great point and is the real problem with lack of elevation limits.
-
The aftermath. Man these tanks take some abuse! Look at the RA "replacements"!
This is really incredible. The amount of abuse these things take makes me LOVE them! Good up close shots of real damage for modelers.
-
Ouch..poor Bil.
Yeah.....spotty spotting rears it's questionable head here.
Well, I guess it's not spotting exactly because they were spotted but just not shot at.
-
CK,
Could it have anything to do with the type of terrain the mines are in or did you test in the same type of terrain?
-
Glad your better John!
The only thing I can say is that if the guy you spoke to missed a "full body target" WITH A RIFLE 50 times from 20'.......he is doing something wrong. Even a musket will hit at 20 feet.
-
We need a dedicated "throw grenade" command just like the "throw smoke" command.
-
What about the in game AA setting? On or off?
So you get the most FPS with both texture and models to better?
-
Yeah I guess that phrase came out sorta wrong. I know what they are doing is not easy (I beta test). I guess I just had one of those "throw your hands in the air, not another one!" moments.
Onward and upwards.
-
Finding stuff like this really makes you lose confidence about what goes on under the hood.
-
...and of course be able to shoot schrecks, zooks and fausts from inside.
-
The ability to specifically throw grenades like the ability to throw smoke. As it is now it is a crap shoot if your guys throw frags.

Pak40,
Was this with RtoM Redux version? The Redux version has green Allied troops. Not sure about original. With green troops there is really no charging with any kind of enemy MG fire as the troops will break.
But thanks for the battle plan. I will try it!
