  1. CMBN is yet to put the hook in me.

Have been playing CMBB though. The CW module inspired me to pickup CMAK and mod it to ETO. Am enjoying that.

Am thinking that I will eventually enjoy CM2, hopefully by then a number of modules will be out so the scope of the game will be more appealing to me.

If you've played a lot of CM1 it will take some adjustment. I think that's the hardest part.

Play the demo see if it grabs. If not I suspect it's just a matter of sticking with it until the comfort level lets you get into the new titles. Advice I've yet to undertake. Which is fine as I like to be a year or so off the boil. Saves me waiting with baited breath for expansions, patches etc as they're usually all out by that time.

Anyway, that's my take. Have fun.

  2. Asked in another thread but didn't get a bite...

Just digging aronud the CW page... I see the German vehicles that will be added but not what flavour (if any) German ground forces that are in the module. I recall talk of SS and/or Luftwaffe units I think. Did anything make it in? When I say LW I'm leaning towards FJ obviously.

Has there been info/confirmation posted on that?

    thanks

  4. add to that.. maybe trite, but to fire smoke from a AFV, i'd like to be able to ration my limited available rounds of smoke... have a popup after selecting "Smoke" to say:

    A)continuous

    B) 1 round

    C) 2-3 rounds

    D) 4-6

    etc -

+1 here as well. Hate burning through a ton of ammo in a wego match. Agree should be for all area fire, not just smoke.

  5. The dual driver concept did have some merit... This vehicle was designed to be a very cheap reccy type, production costs were kept down by making it totally unarmoured. To compensate the vehicle was configured for driver redundancy so that if driver #1 was rendered inoperable driver #2 could take over.

Very clever of those Germans engineers. Very clever.

  6. CMBN_Granate.jpg

Panzerführer Klaus wouldn´t need a binoc to see whats wrong on this grenade....never the less he got a taste of it´s splinters...

    Great shot :D

Isn't the handle spring loaded on these sorts of grenades to fly off once the safety pin is pulled and the thrower lets it go, thereby starting the fuse? So the one seen here wouldn't actually explode?

Is that correct? (I suppose I could google it but it's fun to chat about these things)

  7. An M8 surviving and continuing to fight after taking one 'schrek hit to the turret. Followed by two! 75mm AT rounds from less than 50 meters, one that when right through the turret, the other to the left side toward the rear of the vehicle that immobilized it. It was finally KO'd by another schrek round to the side some turns later. That was after it had racked up 27 infantry and the afore mentioned 75mm PAK kills.

I think only one of the crew survived.

In the same battle a 100m shot KO'ing an Stuart tank moving full speed perpendicular to another schrek team. I've a got some cool pics where you can see rocket in flight and then the smoke from the hit a few lengths of the vehicle behind where it finally came to rest.

Will try and post pics later.

  8. Now that's odd... I've played 3 or 4 QB's. Each time I had the as described above problem where the battalion HQ only had the rename option and I couldn't delete it. Am 99% sure I deleted all the directly sub-ordinate units.

Reading this thread I've just tested it and I can delete the HQ as long as all the unit's reporting directly to the BHQ are gone.

Can only conclude I'd attached some stuff that stopped me deleting them before.

So try it again, you can delete the extra HQ's. And thanks for the tip on using backspace, much quicker.

  9. I had two fire missions last night land about 50 meters from where they were targeted. They were during play.

The first one I ordered in the Road to Berlin scenario was a line and it worked fine. The other two where area targets and both landed well wide of the target.

I actually thought they might have been from the opposition as I double checked my targeting and the spots were still there even as the tubes were firing. I think they might have been at emergency where as the first one wasn't, but I can't be 100% sure.

  10. At least one AT-AT patrolled the garrison base on the forest moon of Endor, but had no impact on the battle there, as AT-ATs were limited in their range by the dense foliage of the moon. As a result, smaller vehicles such as All Terrain Scout Transports saw far more use.[23] An AT-AT was originally going to be used in the Battle of Endor, but it ended up becoming crippled by Renegade Squadron, resulting in portions of the Galactic Empire trying to fix it.

Proved wrong by the interweb, sniff, there is no emoticon that truely shows how this upsets me. I shall retire to my fortress of solitude with a pack of cheerios to contemplate my repost.

...comic shop guy leaves the front row of the convention hall, his hooded cape hiding his troubled face

I tell you what, they gotta release the game soon. We all seem to be going a little bit round the bend.

  11. I didn't know Ewoks fought at the Battle of Hoth! :D

If you had specified AT-ST, however... :P

    Simpons comic shop guy voice...

Ehem, you will remember there is a scene setting shot just prior to Luke handing himself in where you can clearly see an AT-AT docked to lower left of the shuttle landing pad. It would be safe to assume that this vehicle may have been deployed in the Ewok insurrection that followed later in the movie even though there is no footage (hah! a toe cheese related pun) of said vehicle in combat.

This now leads us to one of those 'it was in the threatre but is there evidence of it being in combat?' discussions. Let us to the interwebs for answers!

    :D
