1. Its been noted already that CM does not account for top hits when firing from above... Which explains the results you are seeing. Ben
 2. It gave him an Axis minor victory. The score difference came from the fact that he killed 150 to my 90 and knocked out 3 vehicles to my 2. Ben
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: MickOz and Ben Galanti just finished a game in which both of them lost. LOL!! The final score was Mick 32, Ben 24. The VLs must have been a complete no-man's land. I'll have to check on how others did on that map. It's an interesting outcome, that's for sure. Treeburst155 out.

Well, actually, I went all out for one of the VLs early in the game and took it, but Mick bottled me up pretty good. He then speant the reest of the game whittling away at my forces too the point where I no longer had control of it. I had gone all out for that one, and he ended up throwing most of his forces at me to stop me there, so we only had token forces to attempt to control the other VLs. Not enough, however to takeout our opponents token forces Ben
 4. Fuerte has been on vacation. He dropped me a note a few days ago, and sent a turn yesterday (the first in a couple of weeks). Just sent off the last movie file to MickOZ. That's been a pretty bloody one... Ben
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Jarmo: Dorosh and Galanti, many days no killing. I'm waiting...

Err... I was waiting for a file from you. Did you not get #15? 14 is the latest I have from you... Ben [ 01-04-2002: Message edited by: Ben Galanti ]

 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Jarmo: Still at early stages with Galanti, he's dropping some light arty (81mm I suppose) in two random locations in the assumed path of my advance. Let's say he's causing lot's of damage.

Well... I figured I had so much to spare that I'd try to share it with you early and often. If you'd show yourself, I'd be more then happy to correct my aim Ben
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Madmatt: The camera views have been overhauled and there is another isometric view which replaces the old top down level 5 view. You can also now tilt to a far greater degree up and down than ever before. My own personl crusdade was to get that implemented to take better screenshots!

So, is there no view 5 at all anymore? I use that view extensively to fine tune my paths.... How's about dropping one of the other iso's (like 3 or 4) or one of the further up topdowns (like 6 or 7). Of course, the best would be not to drop any at all Thanks for all the info, Madmatt! Ben
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: Jarmo, Yes, I am waiting on Ben's purchases. I will get the game out to the German player promptly, once I receive the file from Ben. Treeburst155 out.

Sorry about this (and an appology to Mick and Fuerte as well). I've been having e-mail problems this week (as in, I can't send or read any). My ISP assures me it will be fixed today. Of course, that's what they said yesterday... My purchases are sitting in my outbox, just waiting to be sent. Ben (typo's corrected) [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Ben Galanti ]

 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Gyrene: Hehehe, the "Tron" mod. Gyrene

So that's why by Jeeps look like lightcycles.... I've been wondering. Ben [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: Ben Galanti ]

 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Gyrene: You guys that haven't voted...I guess you don't have a single mod installed in your system.

Well, in fact, the only one I have installed is this one, but I know it isn't most folks cup of tea... Ben
 11. Here we are: Operations and foxholes problem? Ben
 12. I believe there is a bug in operations which allows foxholes to be spotted long before they should be (it maybe even always spotted no matter what). This is for battles after the first one in an operation (I think that foxholes are only dug before the first fight of a new day of operations too, so that is when you will see them). Is this what your talking about, Jeff? I'll try to dig up a post confirming all of this... Ben
 13. The type of movement you use affects whether you can be seen (running versus moving versus sneaking versus crawling). It also affects how well your units can see. What terrain the units are in also affects being spotted. Facing is important as well. Units will spot better to their fronts then to their sides and back. Ben
 14. Quickdraw3d 1.6 (and hence, RAVE 1.6) was released around April '99. I haven't been able to find the specific RAVE changes for this version, however. Now, obviously, this was before CM was released, but who knows when they stopped working on the renderer for CM (well, I guess Charles does ) Ben
 15. I think the issue is that it would in fact be a _downgrade_. If I remember correctly, it was stated somewhere in these boards that the OS X RAVE shim doesn't cover everything in the RAVE 1.6 spec, which is what CM is coded to. Ben
 16. Gyrene, Thanks for clearing that up. I shouldn't have gone spouting off on stuff that I had only heard. My understanding (which was clearly wrong) was that the classic rave extension caused problems playing even when booting into OS 9. Thanks again for setting it straight that this is not the case! Ben
 17. I think the problem is that OS X's "classic" compatibility is in fact a full install of OS 9. The problem with running CM in classic is that OS X installs a RAVE component into the OS 9 system folder that is used for classic. So, if you try and boot into OS 9 from that system folder, CM won't even run from that. Now, I think you could either have _two_ installs of OS 9, one for classic and one to reboot from, or, easier have a different extension set which you can switch to when you boot straight to OS 9 which removes the RAVE compatibility extension. I think that would work, however this should all be taken with a grain of salt since I don't have OS X yet (partially because I know CM won't work on it ) Ben
 18. Well, this was actually my second fight. I've already been thrashed by the steadily rising Shandorf... I did have a lot of infantry left, but several fairly intact platoons had been neutered due to loss of HQs. That, and a StuH rumbling around unopposed would have been tricky to deal with. I'm looking to pick up one more game now. First come, first serve basis, so someone drop me an e-mail please. John, as for the scores, I've had some trouble too with the pages. I don't know what problem you are having specifically, but I know I have to replace the spaces between the words in the page name with a "%20" (without the quotes) for it to work on my browser. Ben
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by John Kettler: I eagerly/anxiously await the Turn 24 movie from Ben. Where is it, please? Regards, John Kettler

I sent it about 10 minutes after your post Only one more turn, the score on this one is going to be tight, I think. CDIC and I finally stumbled into each other in the woods and the dark. Some infantry fire at about 40 meters is all we have so far. Well, that and he's lobbing HE around the place. Feurte and I should be starting up as soon as Treeburst gets back.
 20. Bogging vs experience, test results and questions Short answer: Doesn't look like it. Ben
 21. I think your opponent only gets points if you pull them off a non-friendly map edge. If you pull them off a friendly map edge, they're listed as safe. However, there is the mentioned global moral hit either way... Ben
 22. Fuerte, I was out this weekend, but I'll drop you an e-mail so we can get something started. Ben
 23. I suspect Doug's theory is probably correct. Squads will unsurrender, but they seem to be targetted almost immediatly when they do, which occasionally leads to something like this... Ben
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by John Kettler: If he wishes to kill me, have Ben Galanti send me a turn! The sooner I complete my game against him, the sooner we can fight. Regards, John Kettler[/QB]

Eh? I sent my turn to you yesterday... I'll resend though. My game with Shandorf should officially be wrapped up here, just need another mail or two to get the final score. I don't think I'm going to like it very much when I see it, however... Ben
