  1. When I first put the Mac CD into my G4's drive, the disk showed as "unreadable". At the time I was connected to the web with Outlook Express and IE5.1 running. I disconnected, quit the applications and re-inserted the CD. Everything was fine after that and the install went smoothly (it took about 60 minutes but it worked). I left the CD in the drive last night and we will see what happens when I return to it tonight.
  2. Absolutely fantastic! Question: Is that some small furry animal in the rubble shot? (about an inch or so below the rightmost soldier - staring into the "camera") Perhaps I'm just seeing things???
  3. There are lurkers... and then there are the true lurkers. The few, the proud, the ancient junior members....
  4. I saw an article on "Mac Gamers Ledge" about ASL coming to the Mac. After that there were few updates until Battlefront announced that instead of ASL, it was going to be Combat Mission (and developed on a Mac)! Seems so long ago now...
  5. A G4 450, stock 16 MB card (is it worth springing for the Radeon 32MB?) with 384 MB of RAM. CM is the most fun I've had on my Mac, even when getting trounced in PBEM.
  6. Midnight at Oasisfeld. Watching the carnage that unfolds as those hapless Kangaroo-driving Canadians try to cross that bridge is something only a sadist can enjoy!
  7. I'll join in on the bumping. This issue is what will determine how quickly I buy OSX.
  8. I just saw this on the Future Releases section of DVDReview.com. Anyone know anything about it? World War II: The War In Europe 1983 · 195 min. · FS · E · Not rated Special Interest · Release Date: 12/19/2000 · SRP: 19.95 · UPC #7-33961-7015-55 This classic program tell the epic story of the greatest conflict the world has ever known through expert commentary and graphic combat footage from the famed battles. Directed by Don Horan.
  9. Springfield Virginia USA I have to get this in quick before the daily T-storms come through and knock out the power.
  10. 39, but lack of sleep from this game adds 5 years to my appearance!
  11. Spoiler--- I went to this scenario first. Phandaal is right, absolutely unbelievable! I had no idea there was going to be this much going on in one battle. Turns took about 90 seconds to process, although the one where the SS infantry and about 10 halftracks charged down the road through the massive artillary bombardment took over 2 minutes on my G4 450. The AI clobbered me with an overwhelming onslaught. I could play this one scenario and be happy for a long time. Even if my namesake, Cpl. Denette (thanks Fionn & BTS) keeps getting waxed.
  12. I got the "mac version" as well. I initially heard about this game way back in 1998 by reading an announcement about an upcoming Squad Leader game that was going to be coming to the Mac. It was on Mac Gamers Ledge I believe. PS - Don't think I'm going to have time for "The Sims"
  13. And didn't one of those Duck-tour thingies in Alabama or Missisippi sink with a load of tourists on board a year or so ago? Those things are on the GW Parkway? Man, another reason to stay off that road.
  14. I'm in Springfield, VA. My wife just called to tell me that it is here! 2 packages, a priority mail envelope and a tube for the poster. I pre-ordered in mid-May last year. The boss is travelling today, so I'll be heading homeward soon!
