  1. Hey, Matt-

    It's a Geforce4 with 64mb of VRAM. Odd, innit?

I noticed it in a scenario I am making-no Italians in Prague, nor any VL's near that position. It seems to have gone away. Sorry I missed the screen shot, and I hope it helps. If you want me to try anything else out to replicate it (though it seems to be gone for good), just let me know.

  2. Hi Admiral Keth. I noticed that the "preview" linked to my Berlin Mitte map was not the map I submitted. Also-do I need to send along anything else to get it linked? I sent it over about a week ago.

I have the same problem with my Berlin map for CMBO-not linked. I sent the file over several times, but I can send it again. No worries, I know how busy things get.

Thanks for all your great new work on the site. Looks good.

I noticed these errors on the map page:

"Warning: Access denied for user: 'admketh@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/virtual/site41/fst/var/www/html/combatmission/maps_CMBB03.php on line 27

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'admketh@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/virtual/site41/fst/var/www/html/combatmission/maps_CMBB03.php on line 27

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/virtual/site41/fst/var/www/html/combatmission/maps_CMBB03.php on line 41

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/virtual/site41/fst/var/www/html/combatmission/maps_CMBB03.php on line 83

Sorry, no reviews for this map were found!"

    -Ben

  3. Possible bug?

The mesh that covers the turret is the only thing visable-no turret behind it. The commander's truncated little body is floating free inside of the cage.

The turret only seems to dissapear when I move closer to the tank itself. When I have the view pulled back, it seems a-ok.

    (edited for half asleep post..)

  4. I am working on a series of Berlin maps for scenario makers to use. I have sent the first one to the Scenario Depot. Until it is posted, I will be glad to send it to anyone thet emails me (be advised that the "preview" at the ScenDepot shows some other map-not mine). I may try to put together a series of linked scenarios following a single unit/group throughout the battle-after I slog through the rest of the maps. That is 1st priority.

I am also starting to think about a few battles from the history of the SS Das Reich Division. I am reading James Lucas' book on the unit, and there are many vivid accounts that would make for great scenarios. I prefer to have map sources to work from, and as we all know, those are few and far between.

I also want to do an op. based on the fighting around Staraya Russa in winter '41.

    Lots coming up...

  5. I have just finished a map of the Mitte section of Berlin, containing the Reichstag, Moltke Bridge and Reichskanzlei. I left setup zones and flag placement up to the players discretion, as I conceived it as a map that could be segmented into smaller battles-or 1 large battle. It is as acurate as I could make it c. 1945. I plan on doing at least 2 more Berlin maps, for a set of locales where the fighting occured (next one will be Zoo and Flak Towers. After that, a suburban or Templehof map).

I will try to post it to the Scenario Depot, or anywhere else that will post it.

  6. I noticed that I need to update my favorites regarding all of the new CMBB sites. I though that this thread could be a clearing house of links to everyone's sites, new and older. Mods and scenarios are popping up like potholes on Broome Street, so now's the time!

(If someone has alredy done this, kindly link to the thread previous, and we can go from there to fill in the gaps)

  7. I am nearly done with a map of central Berlin (Mitte District). It spans from above the Moltke bridge (North) to the Luftwaffe HQ (S), and from the east end of the Tiergarten (W) to the Friedrichstrasse Station (E). It will be the first in 3-4 maps of the city that will be saved so as to be usable as quickbattles, as well as for any scenario designers out there that want to use them. Probably the next will be the Flak Towers/ Zoo area, then some more suburban area later as I find maps/photos.

    A few questions:

-Is anyone interested in taking a look at it prior to releasing it to whover will post it (anyone, anyone?). I have not had good luck with the Scenario Depot so far in terms of posting-I sent my Berlin CMBO map to them 3 times, and it is still not posted (the text is there, but not available for d'load...). Try, try again I supose.

-Setup zones-what seems to be the best way to divide the zones in terms of playability? Do I need to add them? I forsee that people will want to use parts of the map for smaller engagements as well as a city wide gargantua battle, so I want to leave it a bit loose. Any suggestions from other OCD map making addicts?

-Editablity-I want people to be able to resize the map-remove all but the Reichstag fer instance. Will one be able to do this once they load it up? I am very comfortable with people playing with what I have done (though it is well researced etc...), so I want some freedom for people to be able to "mod" the map to suit the great new options available under CMBB.

    Thanks,

    Ben

  8. Ah yes, that Peter Young book. I remember I was about 8 when I saw wargames in a bookstore. I asked my father what they were, and I remember him saying that they might look really interesting, but that "when you opened the box, it is full of cardboard". That intrigued me even more.

By the time I was 13-15, I had bought Third Reich, Squad Leader (and whatever addons I could afford), Panzer Blitz/Leader, and a great Napoleonic strat level game called War and Peace (War and Pieces-lots of counters).

I still have 'em in the basement. The computer is great to have now with PBEM and an AI-no more press ganging less interested friends into "just one more turn".

  9. The fact that it is on the Eastern Front would be enough for me with just the CMBO gameplay. But there are many, many things that make it so immersive as to the particulars of warfare on that particular front.

A few things that are over the top great for me:

The Axis "Minors" are a major plus. I love those sparks from AFV hits. The sound is scary in it's realism at times. The addition of further 3D modelling on AFV's. Factories. That brown puff of smoke from a destroyed building...

    Gotta get back to playing.

  10. Thanks, Moon. CMBB is better than I ever could have imagined-and the manual is really a great thing to behold in this era of the flimsy pamphlet (or nothing at all). To those of you who didn't get it in the European mailing, and are thinking about ordering it-it is more than worth it.

And to those of you who are doing winter uniforms/AFV's, I am looking forward to them. Now git working!
