  1. I put the .cam file in the Documents/Battlefront/Combat Mission/Black Sea/Game Files/Campaigns folder, but it's not showing up in the Campaign list ingame. I am seeing all of the splashes you've created for the campaign, but not the Campaign itself.

That's kinda strange. Maybe your download git corrupted somehow?

    Anybody else having this problem?

  2. Tried what you suggested - trying to extract individual folder and file. (Boy, that's going to take a long time.) However, still have problems. One of the folders that was problematic was POLISH VOICES.

I created a folder called that on my desktop, so very short directory name. But I STILL could not extract some of the wave folders from the unzipped folder.

eg: "polish heavy target big gun 2.wav". I cannot even click and drag that individual wav file (or "polish heavy target big gun 3.wav") out of its folder directly onto my desktop at all.

Am I using the wrong version of WinRAR?

I'll get a cut down mod file out soon. It should simplify things.

  3. Hey Imperial Grunt...since Kieme has made most of the best CMBS mods anyway, why not downsize your file to just the specific tagged mods and let folks use Kieme's links?

I know you have some sound mods and such as well, but Kieme's mods really do make CMBS better....and if you like sound mods, maybe you could just provide a list and guys that want them can search for them....

I was fortunately able to download and unzip everything using my trusty iMac, but it was a monster....looking forward to this...thanks for all your hard work...

Good idea. I have to fix my Dropbox account first. I'll advise when I can do that.

  4. It's no problem putting the cam file into the folder. But, no I wasn't sure what to do about the mods. I think it's cos some of the filenames are too long. I have encountered one or two other mod sets that created the same error messages. Not sure why I have that problem and apparently others don't.

On the other hand if the mods included with this campaign are edited from existing mods(??), then I probably have them all anyway.

    Thanks again for the campaign.

Ok, got it. Were the readme txt files helpful?

I hope you enjoy the campaign!

  5. Gents, the campaign is finally completed.

Join the paratroopers of "Attack" Company, 1-503rd Airborne, as they rush to stem the tide of the Russian advance in central Ukraine!

There are two files associated with the campaign. There is a "Mod Pack" which consists of a compilation of my favorite mods as well as some additional mods specifically for the campaign. The second file is the .cam file for the campaign.

Many people contributed to the creation of this campaign, without your help I could not have completed this project. I thank you all.

Until I can get it on the Repository, the campaign can be downloaded from here:

  6. I'd vote for a new setting and modern 2017-ish equipment. The area would still be Syria but Iran and Israel are also involved. And Russia is supporting Iran with equipment and advisors.

Basically Iran intervenes conventionally to save Assad with Russian support. Rebels are mostly over run. NATO responds with Israeli support.

That's how I would do it.

  7. In my opinion, some of the pathing problems, etc, are very good for the game and I don't think players should be able to determine exact paths for their units that they follow to a T. Anyone who has led troops in any capacity knows that this can't be done anywhere except on the grinder for close-order drill.

The caveat is that there are definitely pathing issues to be fixed, especially with bridges and reversing. But in my opinion, I'll deal with those over having complete detailed control.

CM simulates the "friction" factor better than any other war game out there.

Everyone has seen the movie Blackhawk Down, which shows how the convoy got lost after leaving the raid objective site due to roadblocks and a comm delay from the surveillance aircraft (these days it would have been a drone) and the convoy. Turns were missed, etc. That is friction.

It certainly can be frustrating to see in CM, but for me, things going wrong, sometimes even absurdly so, is part of the challenge of CM.

**** happens. Deal with it. Continue the fight. Win.

  8. I've looked at other tactical wargames and I always keep coming back to CM.  My biggest gripe about BFC is that they are not making the super big bucks they would need to make CM look just like ARMA 3 and go to the next level exponentially game play/mechanics wise. Maybe one day.

But as a I kid who grew up on Squad Leader and cardboard counters, I totally get what sburke is saying.

And I am an admitted CM addict. No therapy required.

  9. Wow that is a cracker of an idea, the best suggestion so far. It would be awesome starting the campaign as USMC assaulting a shoreline with AAV-7's, and the the following scenarios could be a series of battles as the Marines fight their way inland.

US Army forces would be involved as well. Perhaps units from the 25th ID and 82nd Airborne. A whole joint team.
