return your man card please.
A brash assumption that one was issued in the first place.

Errr...you do know what this thread is about don't you? You failed on both btw.
Oh a feisty one! Can we keep him?
-
Impressive. Thanks for sharing Simmo.

Not that most of you sorry lot would know a good beer even if it smacked your significant other in the rear end, looked you dead in the eyes and then asked you what you were going to do about it.
I'd drink it.
err was that supposed to be challenging scenario?

We seem to attracting a whole new group of minnows.
Yeh but....the difference is minnows serve a purpose.

Today's session was very enjoyable, and Chris' product placement professionally done.

We're all used to the close-fisted banging that is as close to typing as you'll ever get.
I was more certain he was hashing the keyboard with his forehead as his form of 'typing'.

I mean all the efforts in pulling strings on the Maidan and in the Kremlin just to promote their upcoming game? Would that not have been better invested into just making a better game?
I've always wondered about the size of the Battlefront marketing budget. It must be a lot more substantial than I've ever considered.
-
See? Even Aussies have standards...of a sort. Just barely, but still...
Your confusing 'standards' with 'morals'.
-
I can tell you how that one ended. The Austrians lost!
You should know. You were there!

There is probably a funny line in there somewhere, but someone else can find it, I can't be arsed.
In this case we don't need to be funny.
NO. We do not want HIM living HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

My apologies if this has been posted before..but I just saw this article online about the history of Battlefront. Even has pictures of Steve and Charles. http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/1/29/3916154/turn-by-turn-battlefront-combat-mission
Was that picture of Charles taken before they removed his brain and stuck it in a jar?
i remember seeing CMBO in a local PC mag here in Adelaide, whilst i was playing panzer general 3D,i think there was just one picture and a small sentence or two about the game in the articleoooh a reminiscence thread? I was lucky in that a great friend I've known since High School was a CMBO beta tester and kindly allowed me to setup a quickbattle (so much for the NDA) and spend time hunting a Hetzer with a M36 Jackson. I was hooked as it was the type of tactical WW2 game I always wanted.
But the other thing I like about Combat Mission is the great friends I've made through this very forum. That was the bonus.

In 1985, I was using little bits of cotton ball on my miniatures to show that that tank was knocked out, so I think graphics have improved a bit.
You could always paint them to improve the graphic representation.
Personally I think the quality of graphics released with each CM is of a suitable level of detail and I certainly wouldn't want the Battlefront team getting too hung up on improving graphics further when they could be better focusing on AI etc.
Besides I wait for the modders to push out their excellent material to push up the quality of the CM eye candy.

Many, many long years ago I read an account of this raid that offered that the reason for the large number of prison casualties was that the bombs used to breach the walls were larger than needed, about twice as big in fact. Did anything like that turn up in your researches?
According to various publications by the Author Martin Bowman (including 'Mosquito Bomber/Fighter-Bomber' and 'Mosquito: Menacing the Reich: Combat Action in the Twin-engine Wooden Wonder of World War II')
255 of 700 held prisoners escaped. 182 were recaptured and 37 were killed on their escape attempt.
The Australian War Memorial website indicates 102 died, 74 were hospitalised and 258 escaped.
So I take it another 65 (102-37) were killed by the raid itself?
The reason given for Operation Jericho was that a number of prisoners were to be executed on a given date, including key resistance members, and hence the raid went ahead a few days prior to prevent this.
btw the latter book is quite good, and gives a lot of detail of key mosquito sorties in the ETO.

My gawd! Bastables is back!

Chris...thanks for taking the time today to give us a run through of Red Thunder.
It was like the old previews done by beta testers..although not at a pub and without the beer.

Errr. I don't think that's the messiah's surname?
-
Try sending something to/from Australia and the US.
Yeh I had to get a second mortgage on the house and sell my youngest to cover postage.
It is worth it however (and a lot quieter).
-
I bet your family were hanging black crepe all over the house that day and flags were flown at half staff.
Something they continue to do daily.
-
That was so that if the brakes failed or the driver misjudged it, they wouldn't die frightened.
It's a moot point anyhow. Look at them. I'd say by their youth they're trainee middle managers and not senior execs, and hence very expendable.

I have read many a thread to prepare myself for its stupidity
Oh gawd you have no life!!!
-
Mace on all of you, from a not so great height.
What a wonderful blessing you've bestowed.
PS I don't recall making you my High Priest.
-
Thank you and have a jolly old Xmas.
And you, dear fiend.
-
Your constant overestimation of yourself is truly amazing.
Thingy reference?

IMHO I think the release of CMRT will require a 'mental health day'.
