  1. I appreciate BFC posting the manual, so I'm not complaining; however, the online viewer seems a bit sub-optimal. I see how to zoom in on one page in the manual viewer, but is there any way to view two pages side by side when zoomed in, or else at least to flip forward or back a page while staying in the zoomed in mode? Again, not a "fix or somefink" complaint to BFC, but I was wondering if there is a better way to view the online manual than I've figured out so far.

    Two browsers?

  2. Beware the counter suit. Kidnapping (as I'm sure their WAGs are saying), Metal anguish and Slavery tend to be looked down on more than fictional release dates being missed.

And who would BFC rope in as co-defendants? Microsoft, Apple, Intel, nVidea - hell every single tech company in the world.

Of course if there was an action the game would probably be held back until it was settled, around 2018. By then it might even have a competitor, so BFC would need compensating for loss of earnings. Given I've heard people say they'd pay several hundred dollars for the game, plus costs, plus "wasting my time" costs from the judge...this could be the best thing that ever happened for them.

In the meantime of course we'll be testing the bejesus out of it, you can trust us on that.

  3. I was bored and started playing IL-2 1946 last week, since I recently upgraded my PC and can now run it maxed out. That was fun and then I saw MS Flight Simulator X at wal-mart for cheap and picked it up. It was much more fun than I imagined. Then I decided my 12 year old joystick (Logitech Wingman, which had seen me through dozens of various campaigns across all known gaming universes) couldn't cut it anymore, what with it's inability to turn left reliably. This all just got me worked up into a flight sim lather and...

I now have coming in the mail: Saitek x52 joystick+throttle, Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, DCS: A-10C, and the crown jewel: a Track IR 5

Thanks a lot Battlefront, due to your slowness in releasing CMBN I have dove right off the deep end into flight simulators and blown all my summer gaming funds in one fell swoop. Not that I'm complaining, soon I will be able to pilot an A-10C Warthog, or at least start the engine, maybe :D

How long before Track IR is replaced with a Kinnect hack? A year maybe? Now that'll be fun.

  4. Yeah, same here. There is no difference in difficulty between iron and elite, but elite is more convenient.

If you are in iron and want to see things clearly, just click on some empty space so you can see all your units: this is the view that you would get with elite all the time. So elite is iron plus one click.

    Iron is needlessly masochistic.

[edit to add: ah yes, Ranger33, totally with you too. Didn't see your response]

Elite for exactly this reason. I just don't see the point of Iron as you get the same info, just with more work.

  5. IIRC the soft edges tanks is actually a feature. In the first days of SF it was found to be a hindrance so some “give” was worked in. This isn’t just for the player but the AI as otherwise you end up with tanks piling up at a bottleneck and the AI, as it works on a unit level, being unable to unjam them.

The LOS map works from centre to centre of each 8x8m action spot. This is like a trigger to the engine to say “look here”. The engine then examines the units on a cm2 basis to see if LOS is possible, then applies the spotting rules to that.

  6. Yup definitely a colonial thing

The unfortunate truth is that all the little setbacks, the times you've been shown to be wrong and the arguments that have gone over your head aren't the result of prejudice or bias against a group you happen to belong to - they're all yours and are earned by your own reasoning and behaviour.

I think you'll enjoy the boards if you stick around but holding your breath because people disagree with you isn't going to help your cause.

On that note, I'm not going to continue arguing with you because I think it's inciting you into Trolldom, which would end badly for you. Maybe give yourself a break from the forum for a week or so - I don't want to be your enemy.
