  1. For the life of me: I cannot understand why the forum does not let it's members to "EDIT" posts 24/7? Can anybody explain to me and perhaps others: Why we have to play "beat the clock" before the window for editing expires on a post? I cannot count the number of times in all forums that I participate in, that I have noticed something that needed to be changed in a post well after submitting a post, certainly past the day of the posting. Most, if not all forums with the exception of this one have 24/7 editing. Personally, I like to make a request to the forum management to have 24/7 editing, Please consider this as a request.... Does anybody have an arguments against have 24/7 editing of posts?
  2. OK, I did a little experiment. Not knowing what those little green and red boxes/buttons do, I clicked the green box (in one of my own posts). Sure enough my reputation got a positive hit Whoopie! So to see if this hit stayed in reputation, I left the site altogether, then returned, sure enough the positive hit was still in my reputation! Well if I wanted to boost my ego and appear that I am loved by all, I could click that little green button all day to where my reputation would look stellar (and nobody would be the wiser) to those who do not know better. Certainly would be a childish thing to do! Also I could give another member a negative vote then report them on top of that, Gee! Would that not be a double jeopardy? All the more reason to get rid of this junior high school malarkey, with voting another's reputation "up or down". Please I implore the managers of this forum to delete this childish voting system..... It might have been cool back in the 1970's and 1980's while you picking your nose for a goober, I think society has matured and moved on.... "Dump the vote"
  3. Here's a screenshot generated from the SCWWI/Breakthrough game: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3904780that could not be posted here, regardless scroll down the posts at the suggested site to where you will find a big beautiful screenshot that should have been able to post/attach here...
  4. Also what grabs my attention is the little boxes for voting and reputation. I don't see a whole lot of evidence in their being used, so why bother having them? I've seen in the past on another forum where those kinds of boxes can be abused or not be totally honest, that's my opinion, matter-o-fact the forum I'm referring to ended up discarding those features altogether, to me they are a function that is outdated. If I'm not mistaken those boxes take up a whole line from left to right across the whole post, nothing else can occupy the same line as those boxes. Eliminating them would make for a cleaner post and perhaps save space with the over-all forum. Surely If a member has a problem with a particular post they would still able to "Report" it, which is probably the most important feature of a forum in that respect. At least a member can have an opportunity to support their Report (again I do not know how these are handled). Truthfully, I have never used any of these features and on very rare occasions, if at all, do I have any knowledge of any members using the Report button. One other thing: It almost seems that the voting and reporting are almost "Duplicating". I'd rather see a pro and a con about a subject matter, which seems to be the healthier way of sorting out ideas. Of course if something get's extremely abusive then Report it as a last resort.. I went into this post with the intention to help make posting a little less complicated and perhaps free up some space... Thank you...
  5. Hi xwormwood! Now that you have mentioned that, I did not read that particular section on swapping before (Hmmm! Who was the author of that post? Any hints? ), as well as some other posts. Heck, I have been rummaging around a number of threads all over the BF forums to see what makes them tick, needless to say I have not read them all completely. Did notice some characteristics of swapping that were not included in your post, minor as they are, still worth noting. Oh! By no means am I familiar with all aspects of this game. However, I think I have enough under my belt to go MP in some of the smaller scenarios.... Thanks for the "Heads-Up"... Bob
  6. Yes, when I look at the above screenshots, I notice a lot of dead space to the right and below screenshots, indicating the screenshot could be enlarged (resized) even fuller than presently allowed. They don't necessarily need to mash up against the right hand margin of a post, a very slim white vertical space might enhance the picture, and at the same time draw down the horizontal line of the picture to be symmetrical with right border. At the very least it would be an improvement over the current setup: Meaning a clearer more detailed screenshot or of whatever is posted as a picture.
  7. Hello to my Northern neighbor! I see that you have about a hundred more posts to your record since we last talked, only kidding. Decided to give MP a shot (waiting for a response), during which I was hoping to get those screenshot issues ironed- out before doing an AAR, anyhow it might save me some embarrassment, for usually I get slaughtered my first time into a match, so maybe I can wait a little. I just don't want to be mummified and found by another civilization before getting some answers. Rip Van Winkal aka Bob
  8. Heck, a breeze would do! lol Thanks for the response, we got a little clear sunny low humidity Canadian air here in Boston today, quite comfortable, compared to the usual Montreal Express with a few feet of snow in winter months. I just don't want to be out there shoveling snow when somebody finally wakes up...
  9. I've heard privately that BF is progressive about forum related issues, however, it's been somewhere around 4 or 5 days that anyone from BF or BFC has even made a comment on the subject of this thread. How about some enlightenment from the Administration, Moderators, or whomever has a "Say-so" on how this forum is managed as to if they have something positive in the works.... If you need some clarification as to where I am coming from: "Ask away", I'd only be too glad to hear from you...
  10. Hello Kirk, Noticed the thumbnail in post #3 looked or worked pretty good, however, in post #5 the thumbnail did not come out that great. To modify that seems impossible with the "Time Restrictions" to editing posts. To me the forum editing system leaves a lot to be desired... Bob
  11. Even noticed this: A unit conducts an attack, then can do a switch, but has to be done immediately, no taking the cursor off the attacking unit, or the player loses the opportunity to do a switch..
  12. Hello to MPers! I'd like to play "France's Struggles" as CP. If you are up for a match let me know at artificer4@yahoo.com by all means let me know how to go about setting up a match, it's my first time around this neck of the woods.. Cannon fodder, Bob PS, Are matches set up in a common difficulty mode?
  13. Hope for everybody's sake the screenshot business get's improved.. Any news on your project? Bob
  14. Ok, my previous post had more to do with the MP "opponent finder thread" within this game, now what I find out there on BF is a "MP Finder Forum", My first impression is: "This is NUTS"!, It's like the Wild Wild West, no sheriff there.. Maybe it's not so crazy as I first thought, however, I would not count it as organized... Then again I might end up as one of the nuts looking for a match in that forum...
  15. Been trying to see how other games at BF handle MP, of course, unless I own the games I can't get that information first hand, take a screenshot, ect. to compare the differences from there to here.. What I did notice: Is that SC is the only line of games that have MP finders threads (I think). Many of the MP seeker posts are somewhat dated and I question if this the best place to look up SCWWI/Breakthrough MP opponents? Might there be another place to make MP hookups? One of the problems I see is just making contact with a MP poster, Let's say I'm "HOT" to play a MP match and see an open Post from someone to play (email included), OK I email the member, I may or may not get a response, however I'll have to wait to see what happens, naturally I'm chomping at the bit for action, but "How long do I wait for a response"? Gee! There are other member's posts up there too, should I contact them also?, but each one has pre-game conditions to made first before the match bell even rings. Hmmm! Do I want to get involved in this conditions stuff? I just want to play and will just about agree to anything, even with the devil to play an MP match, But I'm still waiting for the first guy to respond, he might have dropped dead since the last time he posted here, I don't know? My point is: Could there be a MP Lobby screen with Maybe a green dot next to a open match that would indicate that an opponent is ready to go, Instead of searching the web for an opponent?
  16. Took a peek into the MP Lobby to get an idea what goes on there. What I expected: was to see was some kind of challenge system (which is the way CTGW is set up). Have not played MP in any other game except CTGW, so I have limited MP gaming experience with how other games are conducted to putting players together for a match. Regardless, I felt that it might be better to allow members to post a match/scenario there, they would like to play (to nobody specific) to be picked up on by another member clicking an except button/box by whomever wishes to join in on a match. Did see a MP players thread, however, it seemed like there was a gap going from there to the MP Lobby to get a match started and that these matches had to be organized by individuals before they could/would actually enter the MP Lobby, which in a way has merit, but I felt there was still something missing in the process. I'm going to have to go back and check to see if I have all my facts right. Again, I am feeling the system out for future MP play.... Thanks, Bob
  17. Hmmm! Never tried print and paste before, will have to do some experimenting with that technique
  18. To be absolutely clear: You mean 3D for "newly" created games forward, correct? Or might there be expansion games in 3D for some of your tried and true older games ? Or both?
  19. Have not mastered the game enough to go MP and sure these CTDs will get worked out... There's plenty of scenarios to be worked through in SP to become educated here...
  20. Fury Software, Noticed I can not take F 11 or F 12 screenshots of: Research, Diplomacy, any game grafts or unit losses, ect.. Is that normal? These are categories I'd like to share with others. Curious, Bob
  21. Ya know, I was in agreement with the original poster of this thread at first, but paid attention to what others had to say and for good reasons. Have seen good games "die" from simply going broke cause they did all the patches/expansions for free (somebody had to spend the time to do programing), however when I read about an expansion and how an expansion is explained here by some, really gave me room for thought, especially where the expansion is so inexpensive $10.00, compared to other games Often in the $30.00 neighborhood. Yes, if you bought a new game this week only to find out an expansion was released the next week for an unexpected cost, I might freak-out then, but if has been awhile between game release and an expansion and I like the game, it certainly would be easier to dig up some dough to pay for it.
  22. I'm sure WalMart does not prevent it's workforce from leaving the company to go work for another company that pays more. Legally they can't, but if they want to keep an employee, they can offer a raise to do chants...
  23. Have you been working on a 3D upgrade for the existing games you have? or future projects that have yet to be released?
  24. Hello Bill and Hubert, Have you considered to start selling your line of games over at Matrix? Bob
  25. Just because a function of the forum is better, does not mean the forum is at it's "BEST"......
