  2. Thank you Chibot, i was doing the same, but i was unable to pin Germans down without lmg and i wasnt so lucky as Ts4EVER
  3. I am also playing on Iron, so my most effective tactics in urban assaults was trying to trick possible enemies in buildings into returning fire. Obvious disadvantage is revealing my own possition too.
  4. Usage of DPM with new LOS reverse tip worked. So far only minor victory, because they have escaped, but now i have solid ground to step forward.

  7. Ts4EVER, i was playing that scenario same way as you, trying to find nearest safe spot to the first dacha, blocked from fire from another buildings. But i was unable to supress Germans and without knowing that the third squad is in possesion of lmg i always attacked from frustration too soon.

  9. Hello, i am trying to win the second scenario from Red Thunder with name FR HOME. I am playing as Russian partisans, clearing the small village from remnants of retreating German army. Germans are scattered in the village buildings, i am starting in the forest, with few snipers and one squad. Another two squads will come from different directions during first 10 or 15 minutes. I dont have smoke grenades, i dont have arty support. I tried everything and i am unable to win over defending Germans. I tried come closer with smgs equipped partisans to buildings through slopes - very limited possibilities because of map design, i am unable to come close enough to use grenades, i tried concentrated fire to one building - even destructed it, but i have limited ammo for smgs. I tried attacking from different angles simultaneously. I am suspecting that i am doing something vital wrong and to learn it in this scenario will benefit me in whole Combat Mission game. I am hoping to get advice from someone who was able to successfully finish this scenario. Thank you in advance. (I am no new player to Combat Mission series. I have played old combat missions from beginnings, also Shock Force, Black Sea and Fortress Italy and i am familiar with basic mechanics of the game.)
  10. Thanks to my first mp games I did find out that i prefer tiny and small battles with few units and vanilla game without special rules or mods.

I am playing Combat Mission series many years, but this would be my first multiplayer game, so i am looking for patient friend, willing to guide me through email game mechanics. I am from middle Europe (Slovakia) and working at home, so i will be able play the turns relatively fast. I would like to start with small map and few units and i dont care if i would be German or American, but please not Italian :). I also dont care, if the type of game would be defensive or ofensive.   14. Hello, this mission is frustrating at the beginning, but can learn you how to properly check cover and use artillery/mortars. You need to use your mortar as on map artillery. Try to spare ammo (maybe medium intensity of rounds and short time). Kill the machinegunner and sniper on the hill (pick sniper first, because he can harass your mortar team from far. Then try to kill or retreat soldiers on the stone bridge. they have good defensive position and can be proble later during attack on the Tiger. With your squads move closer to the Tiger through empty river line and do it with short waypoints. Check line of sight of every waypoint through target control, if needed adjust the waypoint so that youre always out of Tigers sight. When you encounter germans, continue after you kill those pockets of defence. When youre around 170 -150 meters from Tiger and germans are dead or supressed, you can use smoke grenades and surround the tank with your infantry. They can destroy it with grenades. Use at soldiers as support. For this last phase you can also use smoke rounds of your mortar. You also need some luck: to take out armored vehicle which will come later. You shouldnt be too far from the bridge with your bazooka teams with positioning at gun which will come as your reinforcement. You need to have kill sniper, machinegunner before that and ideally to supress infantry so the tank will have more trouble to spot the gun. And lastly, luck with the precision of mortar rounds and the direction of the wind - because smoke rounds and smoke grenades. sorry for my english and good luck with the game. Patrik

Hello, is strange a.i. behavior after last patch for game engine 4 (V12_black sea) manifested in running of few squad members around buildings, or positioning half of the squad on wrong (enemy) side of walls and buildings well documented now, or should i make videos and fill report for support? Im new to the forums and dont want to duplicate info about something which is wll known to others. My personal and technicaly un-educated quess is that new a.i. behavior trying to use corner peek mechanics is not able to properly react on some type of architecture or its combinations (buildings with adjacent walls etc) and properly positioning itself relative to enemy. This is mabye magified with grid style map and new more spreading unit mechanic. Manipulating with units is now more unpredictable and in cqb often ends with unnecessary losses. And because Combat Mission is based on micromanaging units, unexpected unit behavior is from gameplay perspective counterproductive and gamebreaking element. This is of course just my opinion.

  17. thx for great tip. guys, maybe im little dumb:), but where can i find info about guns of enemy units(for example tanks. i can see only their armor)
  18. i forgot few tips: use deploy phase to find best position( crossfire pockets, hull down positions) dont move if you dont need to. but i have some questions too: infantry seems to be useless against tanks and attacking inf units. (including situations when my units are in trenches) infantry is unable knock out or even immobilize tank. are you planning tweak infantry vs infantry and infantry vs tanks and light armor?
  19. its not so hard. in big tanks(50armor) aim on turret. when you damage the main gun, aim on another tank. immobilize and finish them later. always concentrate fire of all your guns on one tank, damage his gun, then move to another. when youre aiming on light armored cars(15armor) and tanks, dont aim on specific spot. its harder to hit with precise aiming(tracks/body/turret). you have chance, that youll destroy them with first shot. be sure, that your tank and gun crew is experienced(esp leader and gunner). good luck
  20. hello, last mission of polish campaign is really hard. write your email here and i will send you my 5 saves of different stages of last polish mission, so you can see how its possible to win over germans. with your tanks and guns be in hull down position and dont move with them but basic tactics is: take 275mm guns with best crew take2best tanks with 60penetration with best crew german tanks with cca20-25 armor kill with normal aim, but aim on turret against tanks with50armor. when you hit their guns, immediatly aim on another tank. so first disable their guns, then finish them dont let erman infantry knock your guns(use mortar artilery) there is 3-4 waves of enemies in this scenario, so be cautios. good luck

  22. martyr, its very easy battle. i win with one wounded soldier: 1)first deploy soldiers with javelins on berm. they can take out tanks and bunkers(bunkers will dont see them). rearm soldiers in strykers and put down buildings in outpost with javelins. call artilery on buildings(and if you want, on trenches). in trenches use antipersonel arty. let some some soldiers with javelins on berm. there will be some enemy tank reinforce in the middle of the mission and they will put them down with javelins. move with tanks(not with strykers) slowly on highway and step after step destroy bunkers/tanks and supress enemy in trenches around highway. you can put down some buildings with tank rounds. step by step move slowly tanks to the compound. strykers far after them -bec they dont have thick armor. wait till your bombardment of compaund stop and then slowly move tanks in. always move one/two tanks and the others let stationary - to support and spot enemy. there will still be some lucky at enemy alive inside. dont move with strykers in compound or dismount infantry till whole compound is clear of enemies. good luck!
