  1. I also live near LA and would make the drive in a heartbeat if I wasn't married with a baby to boot. If a So-Cal preview happens I will definitely be there.
  2. If the game works I'd also plunk down around $45.
  3. These screenshots are incredible, and are far and away the best I've seen yet. I'm having trouble figuring out if the sky box has been updated yet. In some of the pictures it seems like the background resolution is much more crisp but in others not as much. No matter what those models are stunning! The faces of the Syrian tankers seem to be very detailed as well, more so than what I've seen up to this point. Only a couple of pictures with minor shading lines as well. I also love how the armor plates over the windows of the BRDM-2 can go up and down. This is the most exciting!
  4. Yes, tanks actually rotate now at slow speeds! No more spending an entire turn to watch your tank swivel 60 degrees.
  5. Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a new preview of CMSF at Gamespot with Steve being interviewed. For anybody who has been following the CMSF forum closely there isn't any news that hasn't been discussed here already except for one small tidbit (At least I've never come across it). That is a choice of 3 difficulty levels to play at which include: basic, veteran, and elite. Elite of course is the most realistic level which I would assume most who are CM vets and who frequent the forums would be playing at. I still think it's an excellent inclusion, especially for those new to the CM series and wargames in general. Hopefully that will help to continue to increase CM’s visibility and interest levels to more of the general public. I don’t see Battlefront as ever lowering their standards to suit the whims of the general public so I have no fear that increased popularity will come at the expense of quality or realism. Also there seem to be a couple of new screenshots along the vein of what we’ve already seen and most are what we’ve already been privy to here at Battlefont. It seems like a lot of news is coming fast and furious and it's really good to see more new coming out on multiple gamer's websites like The Wargamer and Gamespot. Hopefully that means the game might be in our hand within the next 3 or 4 months. Cheers all. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/combatmissionshockforce/news.html?sid=6165874&mode=previews [ February 13, 2007, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: Hagleboz ]
  6. Glad to see that the engagement ranges have been extended to more realistic lengths. I think that was a very wise decision to keep the battles from becoming typical RTS style melees. Relative Spotting also looks great. Now if we can just see a greater ratio of infantry to tanks on average and I will be more than content. Thanks for the update guys, keep up the good work!
  7. Thanks for all the bones, I was hoping for a Christmas present!!! The screens for all the vehicles look great! Here on the vehicle report I'm assuming the green crosses under the damage screen indicate all systems are operable. I'm also assuming each system can be damaged individually, but can the systems such be partially damaged but not completely disabled? Could for instance the engine show a yellow cross meaning damaged instead of just a red x meaning the tank is no longer able to move?
  8. This is very cool! I was always frustrated in CMx1 because rapidly moving vehicles still seemed to get hit more often than not. This new way of moving shells down range makes it sound like highly mobile vehicles might be much more survivable in CMx2 than they were in the original games because they will rapidly be changing their LOF between themselves and the shooter.
  9. Awesome video, very exciting! What an amazing step forward, thanks for keeping us posted on things. I do have to agree with Elmar and the rest of the mob though. Those plam trees do look a little funny.
  10. No doubt, Kettler has been there right away to post his pet criticism every time a new picture is posted. No matter how much work you put into something, someone's always there to spit on it. Let's just disregard the fact that these images are mind blowing for a wargame and a small company to boot. Coming from me I say, "Nice work gents!" I'm always at the edge of my seat to see what's coming next!
  11. It's a small little icon but there appears to be lots of detail on that little Stryker. If that is an actual in-game model (which I'm betting it is) than it's much improved over the quick one done for the initial two screenshots. Not that that's a surprise, they said they would be dramatically upping the poly count, but it's nice to actually see some progress even if it's only an inch by an inch and a half on my screen.
  12. Plus there is the fact that a Stryker brigade is not as overwhelmingly dominant as a force composed of Abrams/Bradleys. Seems like that would be more interesting and challenging game wise, while still giving the player the ability to use armored vehicles. Also the fact that there are so many variations of the Stryker that players can experiment with in different types of scenarios both offensive and defensively. I think it sounds really interesting and the decision to use Strykers seems sound to me.
  13. Agreed, very good work Fytinghellfish! Gets me even more excited about trying something outside of the WW2 box I seem to sit in.
