  1. From someone who beta tested games before, most times the developers of the software only want to hear about game crashing bugs not historical inaccuracy. I'm not sure this is the case here. If we'd ever get the developers to actually answer questions about why things are as they are then we wouldn't have to speculate so much. I suspect they won't say because they have taken all kinds of shortcuts. So the betatesters probably did what they should have and were ignored. As to King Tigers being junk ... read a recent book as to how many exactly broke down due to mechanical failure and how many were destroyed to avoid capture, no gas, no parts for maintenance, etc. Not some book on German tanks from the 1960s-70s. I'd trust after action reports more than Russian foggy memoirs or US memoirs where every tank they fought was a TIGER. Go to a bookstore and look at a book by Jentz. Don't base your opinon on Tiger Tanks on ASL or some other game that is woefully outdated with regards to mechanical failure numbers. Is the patch out yet? -Byron
  2. You'd have prefered Hero worship of the Red Liberators? -Byron
  3. Tell me about it. Worst thing ever to have a group of Tigers purchased and then log in only to see the raindrops falling. -Byron
  4. Thank you for all the replies. Great toss if it was a satchel charge. Was the RPG fired so it'd hit in an arc? Or fired directly at the tank. Seemed to land on the "roof" of the turret. Was buttoned up at the time. Make a clunk sound when it hit. No explosion though. Had to laugh, no it wasn't a Finnish solider. Random battle so I'll probably be unable to replicate it. -Byron
  5. Had a bogged King Tiger and a lone soldier threw some kinda black thing and it clunked on my Tiger. Said "Hit" and then the tank was knocked out. What is that supposed to represent? He hurled it at the tank. Wasn't placed on the tank. No fire, so not a Molatov. Is that an abstraction? Looked kind of like something from an Atari 2600 game to be honest. Big black block tossed at my tank. -Byron
  6. Keith, You should be in awe, having him post here. He single handedly moves rivers and cities. -Byron
  7. Extremely happy with the game. The A/I was more than a match for me, when I just rushed in full bore. Its great to be getting hit from such long distances and not being altogether sure what's hitting me. Was really cool the first time I heard a plane coming, and then saw the shadow. Then my StugIII goes up in flames. Coming over a rise and craters start showing up as shells come in. MGs opening up and AT guns firing at me. Tanks from another hill far off in the distance, past the city below start bouncing shells off my armor. Firing with all the AFVs I could bring to bear on a lone dug in AT gun, and realizing after all the flaming wrecks that I'd better try HE. Its on the Eastern Front. When all the textures are in, and the Panther G turret armor is corrected, it'll be a second to none. Already my favorite game. -Byron
  8. Ok. In one scenario I started last night. There is a dug in AT gun. I can plainly see it. However my my tank commanders seem to be blind. They fire MGs at the thing and can't even make them break. You'd think with seven AFV firing that might make them break. If I wasn't at work I could post a picture of seven knocked out and at least 3 burning AFVs. Of course if I had switched to HE it might have helped me knock out the gun. Come over the rise and tanks from way far away are just decimating my troops. Try and send in soldiers to dislodge the gun and get cut to pieces by MGs. Going to restart that scenario and see if I can knock out that gun without losing so many vehicles. This early war armor sure is thin. Was just playing it a bit to get the hang of it and using no tactics other than rush everything forward. That led to losing over half my force. Didn't include scenario name so as to not ruin the surprise for those of you that will play that scenario (everyone). Fun stuff! -Byron
  9. Thank you both for the suggestions. Those both may be what I am looking for. Just didn't want any of the units to be graphically bigger than real life, even at the cost of playability. Player aids off sounds like what I'm looking for and extreme fog of war. -Byron
  10. Played the game as much as I could last night. Do any grogs have suggestions as to what options I should turn on to have the most realistic game experience? Is there a screen when you can toggle all these options on or do you have to enable them via keyboard shortcuts? Do you have to go through this everytime you start a game, or are they saved? I was too busy playing last night to spend a long time looking through the manual. I skimmed but didn't see it, if its there. Thank you in advance for the help. -Byron
  11. Just curious if graphics for the guns (88 flak, etc) will be patched in, so that you can see the guns limbered? Doesn't look right at all for an 88 to be towed and graphically be unlimbered. -Byron
  12. The Eastern Front has always been my main interest. I bought CMBO and played it some, but have always been waiting for something like this set on the Eastern Front. Having relatives that were under Communist opression for 50 years, and under German occupation/opression for 4+ years, its relavent to me. Its a shame that most companies just have the Bulge or Western Front games. Because they think that Eastern Front stuff won't sell to the masses. Happy to finally have the game. Very happy. Won't be playing another computer game other than this for months. -Byron
  13. Is it coming from some fulfilment place in Vermont? If so its waiting for me in SD. That's San Diego, not South Dakota. -Byron
  14. Porsche turret or Production Krupp turret? Just curious which one is in the game. Thanks. -Byron
