  1. I'm looking for zipped map packs of some of the best quick small TCP/IP/PBEM maps out there. These are small sized maps that play well but don't take like 3 months to play out the scenario. Can anyone point me to a website that does this? Thanks
  2. We tried to play TCP/IP over a LAN, I had the disk and was upgraded to 1.12. We tried both a simple 500 pt quickbattle, and the official training battle over TCP/IP. As soon as the game started for both of us, his computer locked up. One time it did a blue screen with a VXD error. I wonder if backreving to a previous patch would help... Does anyone know a patch that was stable in TCP/IP?
  3. Anyone know a link to download Jason McGrody's Excel spreadsheet with pictures and stats of all of the items in Combat Mission? I tried doing a search, but the search engine locks up IE5. [ 05-12-2001: Message edited by: Sparky9292 ]

  5. What type of tank is this? And who is this woman, and what is she attempting to do to the tank?
  6. Just wait till I bring out these bad boys to put some whuup ass on Nazi scum. KV-2 The Axis scum will tremble when I rumble these babies: D8 [This message has been edited by Sparky9292 (edited 03-30-2001).]
  7. F-16 Falcons roughly cost about $22 million per jet. My dad flew them extensively before he retired. Adding to the Battleship debate, my dad said that battleships are out of date because they usually are escorted by an armanda of destroyers, subs, etc, and are a BIG target for tactical nukes that can be launched by even an F-16.
  8. Surviving a thermobaric strike (from that article posted: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Units are far more concentrated in a city fight than when deployed in the countryside. Therefore, a thermobaric strike on a unit in an urban fight is likely to be very bloody. Those personnel caught directly under the aerosol cloud will die from the flame or overpressure. For those on the periphery of the strike, the injuries can be severe. Burns, broken bones, contusions from flying debris and blindness may result. Further, the crushing injuries from the overpressure can create air embolism within blood vessels, concussions, multiple internal hemorrhages in the liver and spleen, collapsed lungs, rupture of the eardrums and displacement of the eyes from their sockets.18 Displacement and tearing of internal organs can lead to peritonitus. Many of the injuries caused by thermobaric weapons are internal and may not be initially noticed by the medic or doctor. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Wow, imagine your eyeballs popping out when you get hit with an fuel air bomb. Gosh war sucks bad. I have no desire to be in a battle today. Just more gruesome ways of killing people.... Thank god for peacetime and the fact that I've never had to worry about a draft in my lifetime.
  9. My only comment on this one. I own a AMD Anthlon 700MHZ, and it takes about 2 minutes to process each turn.... gave up.
  10. The best and easiest place to find PBEM (Play by Email) opponents, is through email! Subscribe to this listserve. Currently it has 230 Combat Mission Players. You will NEVER have a tough time finding players. http://www.egroups.com/group/RDCM Just subscribe, then post a message, and you will get all the games you want.
  11. The best place to find PBEM's is on a listserve go here for more info: http://www.egroups.com/group/RDCM
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Orginal Quote by BTS Now... think about how this discussion would be affected by 9 different MG42 firepower modification mods. Even if that is ALL each modified, it could very well totally f-up any and all hope of improving the "blessed" data. After seeing how attentive people are, in general, to noting significant details about their "problem" (this includes tech support issues, not just CM ones) I know for SURE that if we had a discussion about the strength of infantry in close assaults people would forget they had, or at least forget to mention, that they were using x or y Mod. And then... chaos. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> No. Again, what do softare developers know compared to 5000 ultra anal history majors, war veterans, who play this game? Sure, at first there would be like 9 mods that screw up the machine gun. And sure, there are probably 30 terrible mods for the game Half Life. BUT NO ONE PLAYS THE CRAPPY MODS!! It's a fact that the most accurate mod would be heralded as the best mod to download and add. If you were REALLY serious about making the game more accurate, you would allow pref files to change the stats of the weapons, allow the ability to add new vehicles. This is a SMART way to make MORE money. Half-life is a game engine that's 2.5 years old. Yet it is selling MORE than Unreal Tournament and Quake III because of mods like Counter strike.
  13. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Perhaps BTS could include a nice list of good CM websites as well? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well there's only one site for mods IMHO, and that's Combat Mission Headquarters. Well I've got about 90 Megabytes worth of mods. Basically I check at least once a week for new mods at Combat Mission Headquarters The only gripe I have is that they don't just zip up every file they have (wav's and bmp's) so I can have one big mod file. So what I have done is take all of the interface, tanks, sound, music modes, the best rated scenarios and smoosh them into one big install file, burn them onto CD's and give to my friends. I'm not really thrilled with Combat Mission Headquarters scenario downloading script. It's rather slow, I'd rather them post the scenarios on a normal web page so that it will take like 3 seconds to download them rather than 3 minutes to load the page. Another great place to download stuff is from http://w1.312.telia.com/~u31213280/index.htm This place has the unit database viewer, which is a nice spreadsheet with pictures and stats on every tank, troop, etc in the game. Before this expansion CD is released, I want those photorealistic mods to be finished... [This message has been edited by Sparky9292 (edited 10-20-2000).]
  14. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Well It seems I'm not the only one with this white out problem. I'm running a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP with the latest 3dfx drivers and directX 7. I'm running it on a PIII 800 with 192 MB RAM. I only seem to get the white outs in 1024 X 768 res. My screen starts out fine for about a minute or two then little white areas start showing up and with in a minute my entire window for the 3D battle field goes white. At 800X600 the game seems to run just fine. I hope this problem is fixed soon. Whether it be by Battlefront or 3Dfx. I enjoy playing the game at the higher res. Ya gotta hate playing the waiting game. Combat mission is hands down the best WWII combat game yet created (In my opinion anyway). To see it made better by eliminating all the bugs we can come up with is all we can hope for. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yup, this is exactly what happens on my machine, exactly. I was thinking of trying to use some older drivers to test it out...
  15. Well, I'm 30 turns into the sherman vs tiger battle on the Paderborn 3rd party scenario. I didn't know that Shermans can't kill Tigers worth crap. The Shermans rounds just bounce off Tiger armor like ping pong balls. I'm gonna lose this one probably . The web page with thumbnails is http://www.geocities.com/sparky9292 Here is what's left of my Sherman as he tries to get off a flank shot on a tiger: Yes, here's another one of my Shermans getting mauled by a Tiger. *sigh* Anyway, if anyone can give me a little comfort and sympathy as my remaining Shermans and jacksons get squished, I'd appreciate it.
