weapon2010
If you buy a StugIIIG platoon, all regular,normal,fit,0 modifier. The cost is 278 per tank, or 834 for the platoon. But you get an extra charge of 50 points bringing your price to 884 for the platoon. Is the extra charge just for being attached to the brigade?and if so why?what is that 50 points buying?
Statisoris
Yes, the extra 50 points comes from the (C2) Command and Control links those units gain from being part of a larger organizational structure. The units gain (I think) morale and command check bonuses when in contact with the C2 chain.
womble
Each formation you buy has a 'premium' of 50 points. But you get a discount on the individual elements of the formation. Last time I looked (for a given quality of unit) there was a 15 point per tank discount for buying them as part of a formation rather than as individual vehicles. So at 4 tanks, it's cheaper to get a Battalion and prune it down plus you get one (not very good) FO (the HQ tank) thrown in for free.
