HeadHunter
I'm having problems downloading anything from ftp sites (particularly Tom's Combat Mission HQ, but others as well). Any time I try to do so, I get a page that says "Action Cancelled" or "Page cannot be found". I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 with service pack 1 on Windows XP Home Edition. I am not using any kind of download accelerator, and I have tried at various times over several days - no luck. I did a search on this forum and found a post that told me to check/uncheck certain buttons in my Internet Options/Advanced tab, but that didn't prove fruitful. I'd appreciate any help on how to get this working - am I the only one who is having this problem? And why are we still using a 30 year old protocol to transfer files? [ November 25, 2002, 04:10 AM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
WWB
For Tom's CMHQ, it is because the MGO's notoriously overloaded FTP servers. IE gives you a page cannot be found, but if you try it in Mozilla or something you will get a "FTP host is full, please try again later." BeWary
I don't trust IE to do FTP too well. I suggest using WS_FTP. It's free, has been around forever, and works well. BeWary
