Magpie_Oz
Fun for all the family "Look papa this one was aimed at New York and this one at London oooo and here is the one for Sydney ! It's a biggun' " I wonder if I am the only one who gets a chill down their spine when I see these weapons. Growing up in the late 70's and 80's there was always a pall of nuclear nightmare hanging over our heads. Nice links to soft core porn and viruses at the bottom of the page too.

Michael Emrys
Growing up in the late 70's and 80's there was always a pall of nuclear nightmare hanging over our heads. By then things had settled down a bit. I lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis the autumn after I graduated from high school, and one afternoon while it was going on it occurred to me that all this stuff could get very real very quick. That was a pretty ominous feeling. It was no longer something that might happen some time some day. It was the immediacy of it. Stalins Organ
Yeah - I recall movies about nuclear weapon effects, the importance of overhead cover against back scatter, lethal radii (that's a 10 MT one coming in now - we should get another 2 miles away..quickly now...), the relative values of concrete and earth as radiation shielding, etc...happy my kids don't need to!
Magpie_Oz
By then things had settled down a bit. For sure we didn't have missiles on our door step but for us it was pretty much a given that is was going to happen one day I guess we were all resigned to it.
Michael Emrys
It wasn't just that we had missiles on our doorstep. There had been tense confrontations, such as Berlin, in the recent past. The danger lay in what was likely to happen at that point. The US was threatening to invade Cuba to remove the missiles if the Soviets didn't, and that would have meant US and Soviet soldiers fighting each other directly. There was a real danger that that could escalate into a general war. And it wasn't a matter of it maybe happening "one day", but in the the next 48 hours. That lent a certain urgency to the situation, you see. Michael
dieseltaylor
Ah! This thread explains why I have had some dubious e-mails from Magpie OZ. I kid you not. My address is in his e-mails program!! Two so far offering a link to sites which have obviously been seeded: ://urban-samurai.com/fastcheck.php I have taken off the http. Urban Samurai actually oi a legitimate site. I did send a warning to all those on the list but it occurs to me MagpieOZ might be blanked from recieving responses .... who knows. Generally speaking I always am very circumspect on sites suggested by new posters ... .....!!
Magpie_Oz
Oh ok, I have not suggested any of those sites, looks like a spammer is into my hotmail account, might have to shut it down I think. I'll pull the addresses out ASAP .... sorry !
gunnergoz
The English Russia site itself is pretty innocuous from my own experience with it but I cannot comment on those other links in it since I don't use them - they are too obviously "come ons." The English Russia site is one I've referred people here in the past to since it has a lot of unusual Russian military and historical photos from time to time.
