Von Toojax
I am going to be upgrading my graphics card to a Wildcat VP990. Does anyone know of any issues with CMBB (the only game I play) and the Wildcat cards...I know they are not used primarily for games having some issues with Direct X Any ideas Thank you
Redwolf
It's a bad idea to be the first one to try Any reason you want that particular model?

McEvilly
Hey what are some good cards then- I'm experiencing a lot of hang time with CMAK.
Tim The Enchanter
What kind of games do you play? If you are looking for a good card strictly for CMAK, I would suggest the Geforce 4 ti 4200.
Redwolf
McEvilly, what price range? Under $100 shoot a GeForce 4 (not MX anything!) on ebay. The FX 5200 is pretty bad, don't do that. We need a price range and what kind of applications you run if you want more info.

There were some driver issues a while back but with the latest round of Nvidia drivers most of the major issues have been resolved and now the FX series of Nvidia cards also work without a hitch. As far as the Wildcat VP990 card you refer to...uhhhh...never heard of it. If you need it for work then you need it for work but I wouldn't expect any smashing results with CM or any other game for that matter. More than likely, companies producing gaming software are making sure their products run on the big two, Nvidia and ATI. In any case, good luck!
McEvilly
I'm pretty much playing the gamut of tyhe CM series. Under a 100 bucks is a huge advantage.
Redwolf
If you are brave and patient enough for ebay, then see above, the GeForce 4 ist by far the best option. For $100 you can get a 5700LE which is probably not bad either. 5200 is bad. Don't know about the 5500 and 5600. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-063&depa=1 For good CM you want memory and memory bandwidth (usually given as memory MHz), not so much GPU clockspeed.
junk2drive
Redwolf, your link is to a PCI card. I don't see AGP or PCI mentioned in the above posts.
