FI_Macca
Hi there is it possible to run CMx1 games in widescreen res? I'm using a laptop with 1280x800 res. Best regards Mac
Schrullenhaft
To my knowledge... NO. The CMx1 series of games typically supported only a few discrete resolutions that were typically 4:3. 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 were the more common ones, but I've seen a few others. The CMx1 series also maxed out at 1600x1200, but I seem to recall seeing a resolution higher than that, but it wasn't something I was able to consistently reproduce. 1024x768 sounds like the best bet for your laptop, but you'll obviously see scaling artifacts since that resolution will probably stretched/mapped to the actual native resolution of 1280x800.
FI_Macca
Thank you for your reply;) I guess I'll have to stick with smartscaling then with two black stripes on both sides of the screen. Oh well, as long as it is CM and it works - I can live with that;) best regards Maciej
psklenar
CMx1 does not support widescreen. I just got used to the scaling. CMBB is just too cool at 1600x1200.
FI_Macca
On my old desktop monitor (CRT) I used to go 1600x1200, but since I've changed to LCD I can only use 1280x1024. Hope to improve when I buy a new PC (gotta remember to keeep the old rig with weaker card, so I can ran CMx1 games
