Mod Tools Questions

Recommended Posts

1)

There are currently no mod tools for the Mac. When will those be available? IMHO command line tools would be more than acceptable.

2)

I downloaded the PC demo but this also does not contain the mod tools. Where can I get them?

Last I heard (though things may change) no mod tools for mac. The tools were originally build for internal game development which means they work on the platform the game got built on.

PC mod tools. They probably ditched 'em for the demo in an effort to make the download as small as possible. They'll be in the release. If you can scrounge a copy of CMSF RezExplode that'll do the trick.

Ask somebody with a Windows machine to send you the complete content of the game files as produced by rezexplode in an archive format.

That is all you will ever really need from the mod tools.

Then I couldn't re-pack the modded files.

Windows is not the problem - I have a VM with it available. Problem for me is to get the programs. If they are not in the demo and if they are not included in the Mac release (which I bought) then I simply will not have them.

I live and breathe mods but have never bothered 'rezpacking' anything. A folder (usually named Z) dropped in the data folder works perfectly okay.

...to send you the complete content of the game files

CM:BN isn't CMBO. You're talking well over a gig of data to pass. It might be better to request a PC buddy Rez-explode his .brz and just send the bits & pieces you're interested in modding. No sense in shipping all of the Panther and small arms skins if you just want to mod the tall grass. :)

That is not necessary, they work just as well in a sub-folder that is unpacked.

Yes, of course. But very unwieldly if I ever wanted to give a mod to someone else. This is why its discouraged by the manual.

Also sending me the re-packed 1,24Gb of data might be problematic for some...

What is a gig today? You can pass it around over the net with the free version of dosbox.
