Rick
Saw this in another thread recently and thought the idea merited it's own thread. The main deficiency I see is there should be an easier way to have vehicles traveling at approximately the same speed is our troops. Maybe this could be accomplished through allowing us more precise control of speed. It would also be cool if we could command a tank to stop when a specific infantry unit does. Something like the infantry unit is on hunt, spots an enemy and stops; the tank doesn't see anything but determines that it should stop too because the infantry does.
gunnersman
This is achievable in CMSF. But only by "slow" command for vehicles while there is a "quick" command for the foot mobiles. It works for the most part.
abneo3sierra
In CMSF they seem to stop once there is gunfire or explosions, even if they did not see an enemy, on "hunt" command..so I often do that with infantry moving, the tank moving just behind them, infantry sees something and fires and tank stops also
Broadsword56
Yes, agree this is an important control to have. The Theatre of War series, for all its other faults, does a good job of coordinating tanks and infantry. If you tell a tank unit to support an infantry unit, then give the infantry a move order, the tanks automatically regulate their speed and stop/starts to keep pace with the dismounts (of course, in TOW games the infantry are all doomed anyway, so it's not much help in the long run!)

Which is why I give it a wide berth...thankgod for Combat Mission...
