trouserchili
hi this is my rig: 1.2 ghz t-bird 256 ram radeon ve 32 meg win 98 SE the cmbb demo runs like crap...jerky as hell at 1024x768 with all the trees, details, etc turned down to minimum. what's the deal? is it my video card? need more ram? if i turn it down to 800x600 it runs fairly smooth but the "jaggies" are horrible to look at. my brother has a 1 gig tbird 512 meg ram and a 32 meg g-force 2 GTS and his runs smoothly...so that leads me to think its my vid card or the ram (but he also runs XP...that couldn't be it could it?) anyone with a Radeon VE getting the same probs? any suggestions
Schrullenhaft
I haven't checked CMBB against the Radeon family as of yet, but you're Radeon VE (7000) probably isn't as fast as the GeForce2 GTS to start with. The amount of VRAM on your card isn't an issue (it should have 32Mb - 64Mb) and the OS shouldn't account for the differences you're seeing. Eventually the Win2K/XP drivers will be performing better than the Win9x drivers (if they don't already), but that is something you pretty much need a benchmark program in order to differentiate the performance. Which drivers do you have loaded and what DirectX features do you have enabled ? Possibly some filtering or FSAA setting is eating up all of your video card's bandwidth which is resulting in real poor performance.
Barleyman
Ok, second that here. Only I have a Radeon 64MB DDR which is faster than VE. (And runs CMBO like a speeding .303 caliber bullet) If you're seeing the same bug, try selecting any infantry unit and bringing up the stats box (enter) .. Slow, huh? For some reason, simply selecting an ATG or mortar does not cause a slowdown. Any other type of unit I've tried does.

P3 1 ghz 512 ram ati radeon 32 meg card (with newest drivers) winME (current in updates) Dx 8.1b Dev
