jjelinek
I was looking at some old AARs at the Combat Mission HQ website and they had movies with them. It was stated that CMBO ver. 1.03 was needed to run them. I was hoping that 1.03 or newer would work. No luck. My version is newer. Do I have to locate ver. 1.03 and install it to view these? There was a link with the AAR that said download ver. 1.03 here. It didn't go anywhere. I don't know if that would have helped anyway. That might have originally been for people that have versions older than 1.03.
Jarmo
Yeah, you'd need the old version of CM. There's probably someone around who could mail it to you. The main CM file is not too big, about 3 megs (mac version)
jjelinek
I was afraid of that, thanks though.
jjelinek
Another guy emailed me the application file for version 1.03. When I ran it the startup screen appeared but then a message box popped up that said the CD was needed. As always my CMBO was in the CD drive. Does anyone know for sure if the application version and the CD version have to match? From what I see I assume that they do.
Schrullenhaft
You might have a problem if the program version is older than what is on the CD. If the CD version is older than the executable on your hard drive, then you should be OK. I assume that the first case is your situation and there may be no way around it.
jjelinek
Version 1.03 is dated July of 2000 and my CD version 1.12 is dated Feb of 2001. Now what? Where can I get a 1.03 CD?
Fionn
jjelinek. I, personally, have several different versions of the CM executable ( actually 5) in my CM directory. They are 1.03, 1.05, 1.1, the latest version and a beta version. I can use any and all of them to view movie files. Therefore I think you should be able to also. Are you SURE the 1.03 you got is complete and works on the computer of the person who sent it? Are you clicking on the 1.03 executable to start CM when you try to view those movies? (Basic I know but you'd be surprised the dumb mistakes we all make.) Do you want me to send you the 1.03 I have as I'm 100% sure that works on my computer?
RobH
Hehe! Fionn! I sent him my copy of the v1.03.exe file so I know it works . It appears he needs a copy of the CM CD dated BEFORE the date the v1.03 patch became available. Probably some additional security introduced on later CDs I expect to do with dates and versions. And you, like me, will be using one of the original CDs so we cannot test the exact situation out. Rob
jjelinek
I have one copy from Robert and one from another guy. If I try to run either one of them the startup screen appears and them a message box pops up saying "CD Required". My 1.12 version CD is in the CD reader. Do you think BTS would give me a discount on an old CD? Fionn, Do you have any AAR movies for version 1.12 that are as instructive as the old ver 1.03 ones on the CMHQ site? Thats the reason I'm trying to do this.
Jarmo
I doubt BTS would even have old CD:s to give, they sold out a few times...
Mikeydz
Maybe you should try and make a backup copy of your cd. Copy every file except the the 1.12 Combat Mission.exe file from your cd and burn the 1.03 Version onto your new CD instead. If that doesn't work, then your probably screwed.
jjelinek
Mikedyz, I just tried your idea. I'm screwed. Thanks though.
