t1metraveller
So as not to duplicate myself, here are my impressions of this game. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1328784#post1328784 -timetraveller
Thomm
Even though I never tried PT Boats (no interest in the subject, unfortunately) I enjoyed reading about your work! It is good to know that there are motivated people out there and that developers support them with an open game architecture. Hopefully, you will get the response that you aim for! If the game is that versatile, I guess Akella will come forward with sequels or new games based on the engine. As to why they went only "half way": Ran out of time? ... = out of money? Burn-out? Who knows! Best regards, Thomm

If the game is that versatile, I guess Akella will come forward with sequels or new games based on the engine. As to why they went only "half way": Ran out of time? ... = out of money? Burn-out? Who knows! Best regards, Thomm Speaking for myself I was very disappointed that they included all the larger ships that they did. I wanted this to be a pure MTB sim that would, in very small doses, include some larger military ships at very rare times. Instead we have MTBs added to cruisers, destroyers and submarines in numbers that were very rarely found in real life. As to modding ... I've never done any modding and had no idea where to start. I'll take a look at your notes and see if I can make heads or tails of it but the game, out of the box, is nothing like what I expected or hoped for, and I've been anxiously awaiting it for years. I would very much like to see your mods but of course real life does take its toll. Joe
t1metraveller
Thomm, Glad you liked the review. Thanks. Joe, Yes, I agree, the out of the box game has no resemblance to reality. PT boats escorting destroyers and cruisers on missions? It was hard to believe that Akella presented it this way. Personally, though, I was happy to see all the larger ships modeled because it makes for some variety in modding for me. -timetraveller
BeauBrummie
But what is more desperately needed is a mission builder to get away from the strait jacket of the campaign mode.
Destraex1
I agree, a community campaign would breath some realism and life into the game. I did not think this was a bad game at all, just hard to take some of the unrealistic bits and the poor storyline. A PT boat game screams storyline but this gave none.
