mike_the_wino
Just had a new motherboard installed, re-installed Windows XP, running a P4 2.4 w/1.5gig of RAM and a GeForce 128 DDR video card. Re-loading all my games today and got all the patches installed up to 1.03 and when I went to start CMBB I got the message "HV frequency over range"? What do I do now?
Schrullenhaft
I'm guessing that this message means that your monitor was receiving a frequency above what it can handle. CM starts out with a resolution that is your current desktop resolution, but it will use a refresh rate that is the highest that your video card supports at that resolution. Your monitor seems to be indicating that the Horizontal Frequency is too high for it (which can be a by product of a high refresh rate). I suggest just letting CM sit there for awhile and allow it to automatically go through it's resolutions and refresh rates. This may not work if your monitor shuts down after getting this message however (you may have to power your monitor off for 5 seconds or so - which will allow CM to reach a lower refresh rate). Otherwise you can set your desktop resolution lower (to a level that you would be comfortable playing CM at) and let CM start from there (which may allow your monitor to show all the resolution/refresh rates it tries).
mike_the_wino
Schullenhaft you da man. Turn down rez on desktop, started CMBB, monitor powered down, turned it off, powered it back up and the beautiful black screen with the rez settings was right there. It's all good. Thanks.
