Flickering since DVD drive installed

Recommended Posts

I get screen flickering in CM, worse with splash/menu screens.

All was ok before installing a samsung DVD drive , and Real Magic mpeg card

System:

Intel 700 PIII

Brilliant I 6I440BX m/board

Diamond Viper 770 ultra

SBLive!

Hayes Accura modem

Generic network card

Epson 870 photo

LS120 on pass through to printer

MS wheel mouse

Win 98 1st edition + patches

CM 1.05

I don't always power up the printer, but everything else is live.

All drivers are the latest from the various makers.

I have my refresh rate set to 100Mhz to try and get rid of this prob, to no avail

Please help,

Wittmann

It sounds annoying, but maybe you should remove the Real Magic MPEG card and see if this affects your video. I don't know if the RealMagic is using busmastering on the PCI that is somehow interfering with your video card (an AGP). The DVD drive itself I wouldn't believe would be affecting your display (unless your power supply is max'd out for wattage comsumption).

You may want to look at Sigma Design's website to see if anyone else has reported such a problem (if they've got a decent FAQ posted).
