Fancykiller65
Only 135,000 are sick. And only nearly 1,000 Deaths. Who would be scared?
Elmar Bijlsma
At this point I'd say your more likely to get seriously ill from the vaccine then the swineflu.
stoat
Far more people die from "regular" flu. I was told to fear for my life because SARS was on the way, as was Bird Flu, and so was Monkeypox. I'll take my chances. I'm more worried about soybean rust, the fungus that's killing the common banana, and the corn virus that is destroying everything it touches in Africa and has spread to Iran and the Middle East.
Runyan99
At this point I'd say your more likely to get seriously ill from the vaccine then the swineflu. Good question. What to do? If they make a new vaccine soon, should I accept it? You've got to weigh the risks between a nasty vaccine and the potential for a deadlier mutation of the virus later, that a vaccine may protect you from. Not an easy choice in my opinion. I generally avoid flu shots.
hcrof
My brother and at least 10 of his freinds have now all had swine flu (they picked it up in a nightclub). They felt terrible for half a day and where up and about again the next morning. Personally I am not worried at this stage.
Stalins Organ
not me. we've had 9 deaths in the last couple of months - and 30 ppl killed in road accidents. Worldwide 200-500,000 ppl die of the "normal" or "seasonal" flu per "season". If "Swineflu" out spawns the normal flu the worldwide deathrate will go down!
Bugged
I'm worried that it might impact future travel plans. Being quarantined in a foreign country doesn't sound like a fun way to spend a vacation.
Elmar Bijlsma
Bugged, you are limiting yourself. Go to the most ridiculously expensive hotel you can find and book for a day or two. Get a swineflu-ed friend to drop by and alert a doctor. Enjoy your fortnight in the megabucks hotel!
Stalins Organ
Half the population might find being kept in isolation near this case an attractive proposition...
