Thank you & Question about user made scenarios

Recommended Posts

Hello

First of all, a long time Battlefront or should I say CM fan here. Haven't really posted to the forums and seems that my previous account is not active anymore. In anycase, been following the discussion at the forums from the start. Can't even remember where I got CMBO back then, but it was absolutely great game. So was CMBB and CMAK, all played to death!

Must say that I was disappointed to the decision to make a modern setting game with the new engine. Also US forces put against someone who doesn't stand much of a chance, combined to bad reviews made me skip the CMSF to this date.

However during the weekend I suffered a temporary insanity and bought the Bundle Pack

I've now played few scenarios and I'm starting the Campaign and I'm enjoying it. Despite the game taking place in some "fantasy" setting, with forces that I don't feel any connection to, it is still nice to play it and a good game.

Just wanted to express my opinion, as I do feel a bit misguided by the bad reviews this time. Although perhaps the extensive patching has done the trick?

To my question....

Even though there's still plenty to play with the stock game, I'm allready worrying, that I'll run out of scenarios and campaigns.

Is there any place to download user made scenarios and campaigns?

I noticed that the CMMODS is closing, so that place is gone soon. Scenario Depot also doesn't seem to host CMSF scenarios.

So is there any place where user made scenarios and campaigns are available?

Hello

I've found that PBEM games are a great way to feel connected, no... make that attached, to my forces.

The biggest challenge for me has been learning about the devastating power of modern warfare. Maneuvers that resulted in minor casualties in CMx1 titles often result in disaster in CMx2. It seems like everyone is packing an automatic weapon and every other person is packing some sort of rocket propelled explosive device that, while not necessarily effective against tanks, is more than capable of dealing death and destruction to unmounted or IFV mounted infantry as well as to guys in buildings.

Don't forget to micromange your movement orders in MOUT.

Hello

Yes that firepower thing is the biggest difference with WWII battles. Running/moving/hunting/assaulting now in an open field results a dead squad instantly, when some weapon opens fire. In CMx1, that might have caused a casualty, but I would have also found the location of the enemy. Now I find it difficult to get the enemy to show their location, seems that they wait for me to get close enough and then open fire, which means plenty of casulties.

Currently playing that campaign mission, where you need to capture the Airport Hotel. All troops in an open field and no one hasn't fired a shot at me from those tall buildings in front of my troops...just a matter of time I guess

But it sure is fun to watch the buildings being ripped a part by that massive firepower :o

Thanks for the tips for user made scenarios and campaigns.
