Frenchy
How does one shut off the intro movie...permanently? I have to hit my space bar everytime to bypass it and get to the menus. Anyway to get to the menus immediately once the game is started? Thanks.
wbs
I believe it tells you how to do that somewhere in the owners manual
Schrullenhaft
Press the Shift key when you launch CM (you'll need to do it right after you launch CM) and that should disable the QuickTime movie. I believe pressing it again should re-enable it (or just delete the Prefs file and reselect your resolution if you're on a PC).
Phil S
It's funny that you should be discussing this, you can't get rid of the intro movie and I can't find it on the CD and have never seen it, any ideas? Phil
Schrullenhaft
It should be in the MOV directory/folder. The file is named 1000.mov and it is approx. 44.8Mb in size.
Phil S
Nope it isn't on the CD at all, all I can find is a avi forlder that contains a 6 or 7 mb .avi file that shows the cdv intro bit, where the hell is the movie??!! Phil
Bloodshot
Same here Phil S, (isn't "Phyllis" a girls name ) only got an avi of the CDV logo! Do you have a UK Retail Version too? Maybe we didn't get the Intro included on our version. [ March 14, 2002, 08:21 AM: Message edited by: Bloodshot ]
Frenchy
Guys - thanks. When I get my moves out tonight I'll give the "shift" key the ol' college try!
Schrullenhaft
Yep, that's another difference with the CDV I had forgotten about. Because of what CDV wanted on the CD, there is only the CDV intro and no QuickTime movie. There is also no Mac version on the same CD as there is with the Internet distributed version. Apparently CDV wanted much tighter copy-protection code on their CD's and these things had to be dropped in order to fit it on one CD.

I've got to say I've been dealing with computer games and the problems they bring up for a while and this forum has shown me the most amazing performance all round.Other companies should see this and take some serious notes, thanks to everyone who has assisted me the game works perfectly now and I also know why there is no movie. A small price to pay for a phenomenal game. Phil Sobel (Not Phyllis
jhdeerslayer
Funny, I have never seen the movie again since I installed CM on my new XP system. Don't miss it. Just wonder why it stopped? Saw a thread somewhere on that... Always had it on my 95 system.
jhdeerslayer
Ah... I remember. I bet my XP system doesn't have Quick Time and it must not be with the CM CD either. Just as well as I can start playing quicker
Philippe
Out of curiosity, what happens on the CDV version when you hit the left shift key as you are starting the game ? Do you jump to the interface screen and (here's the part I'm really interested in) does the game start playing wave file 00005010 ?
