stikkypixie
Hi, I'm planning on buying a new laptop. I have set my eyes on the system below. It seems ok to me, but I still have some questions. I'd also like some opinions about it. It's primarily going to be used for working and a little gaming, although none of the fancy stuff. The thing is made by a company called "Compal". I have never heard of them, and it seems that they make "barebones" for other companies. Are they reliable? *INTEL T7500 Santa Rosa CORE2 DUO 800FSB 4MB Cache 2200MHZ *Nvidia GeForce 8600M/GT *2x PREMIUM Sodimm 1024MB DDR2 PC5400 667MHZ Value Series *SEAGATE 120GB S-ATA 8MB 7200RPM 2.5 Inch Portable Harddisk Is there a difference in the durability of a 5400 RPM HDD or a 7200 RPM? And of course should I take Vista of XP? Thanks in advance
Redwolf
Compal is one of the manufacturers and makes laptops for many of the brand names (Dell, HP, Apple, Toshiba, Sony). Reliability is not the issue. Service is, but it can't be worse than many of the brand names There doesn't seem to be a reliability difference between 7200 and 5400 rpm harddrives. The 7200s take a little more power, though.
