Stalins Organ
31 miles, 2 guns, anti-matter....yum.....warp drive & phasors are on the way - we just need to discover dylithium!
SSgt Viljuri
Because a Craton on which Finland is situated is without any tectonic activity to speak about, naturally this modern marvel must be built on the Finnish soil. Other possibility being Australia, but Kangaroos are way too far away from the CERN and European mainland. Actually the planning phase was quite active in the early 1990's, but since then plans are put on hold and probably "nothing" will happen before the mid 2010's.
SSgt Viljuri
Apart from these technical feasibility studies: CLIC. It's a different project than the ILC, but it is very likely these projects are merged if these developmental concepts do work. Or something.

It is better qualified, having for years now acted as a black hole sucking all life and happiness from its residents and neighbours.
slug88
If you guys have any questions about this project, I might be able to answer. I'm working on the design of one of its detectors .

If supersymmetry does occur in nature and is broken at energy scales that can be generated by the LHC, when can we expect to see evidence of it?
Dave H
If supersymmetry does occur in nature and is broken at energy scales that can be generated by the LHC, when can we expect to see evidence of it? How about never? Does never work for you? Do physicists stop to think they're creating models for "particles" that make Aristotle's geocentric spheres within spheres look positively elegant? I enclose particles in quotations because historically every "elementary particle" has been subdivided into a great deal of empty space and indications of vastly smaller particles. Which are eventually subdivided into more almost entirely empty space and evidence of far smaller particles. To one outside the physics industry it looks like a cosmic snipe hunt.
