alk1981
Is it possible to play head to head by TCP/IP using an ethernet crossover cable as a link between two computers in the same room? I was going to try this over the holiday and wanted to see if anyone had had any success playing in this fashion. It would sure beat playing hot seat style and is a lot cheaper and easier than setting up a LAN with a router, especially since there are only two computers involved.
Schrullenhaft
Yes, this should work. Make sure you both have an IP address in the same range, i.e. - 192.168.1.1 & 192.168.1.2, etc. The Gateway and DNS enteries should be unnecessary for this setup and CMBO.
BeWary
Yes, it'll work, as long as you set up your network correctly. Make sure both computers have the same subnet address. BeWary
LeeW
I'm not sure, but I think both computers have to have the same workgroup name as well. Also on mine the gateway was setup with the same IP address that was assigned to the computer. Also the subnet mask was set to 255 255 255 0 if I remember correctly. I was following the directions for setting up a LAN though and was using the crossover cable instead, but it worked. So some of this might not be needed. Black Five
I'm about to hop on an airplane but I'll respond when I get back after Xmas if you have not solved your problem. I have conneted to computers via crossover cable and played CM. It is very easy to do if you set up the network properly.
